You Are My Sunshine Cricut Paper Piecing Layout

Good morning crafty friends,
I hope you are all doing well. It has been hot and rainy in our neck of the woods this week. As most of you know, I have changed the format of my blog and now have a handful of designers who will be sharing projects with you through out the week. One of the opportunities this change will bring, is the chance for us to share projects that include techniques and or out of the box ideas.

A few weeks ago we showcased the Country Life cartridge. One of the projects that I started working on but never completed is today’s project. So here it is.

One last look at the layout.

All of these cuts are from the Country Life cartridge. I love to challenge myself and create paper piecings from the cricut. You can visit my Cricut paper piecings page HERE.

I do plan to make a little pattern book detailing the “HOW-TO” and patterns for making these.  Again, for this layout all you need is the Country Life Cartridge and the Cricut Expression to recreate this. Of course you will need your consumables too…(Paper, Ribbon, Embellishments, etc.).

I used the following products to create this project
Cricut Country Life Cartridge
Cricut Expression

Red and Blue Patterned Papers

Yellow Background Paper

Pebbles Inc. Basic Brights

Cat's Eyes Inks In The Following Colors
Blue Iris, Amber Clay, Yellow Ochre
Warm Green, Tangerine and Chestnut Roan
American Crafts Black Fine Tip Pen
VersaMarker Pen
White Gel Pen
Green, Tan, Cream, Yellow and White Cardstock
Misc. Ribbons

Thank you so much for sharing your crafty time with me!

Bears in Bikinis by Larelyn: FREE Digi

Hello Again,
It's Larelyn from Handmade from My Heart, here again to share more wonderful files from Paper Crafting World.com.  Since it is Friday, we're going to continue providing a FREE digital image so be sure to follow the link below for your free download.

Many of you know me as one of the Digi Gals from Digi Desserts Fridaze, but I do have a Pazzles and I have been exploring the world of cut files (SVGs) too. Today you'll see the same image as a digital stamp and a cut file.

I created this card about a year ago for my Copic class gals.  I used the Bear in Bikini digital printable and colored her with my Copic Markers.  This has always been one of my favorite cards - I think this image is just so cute and fun.

Now that I have a Pazzles (you can use the same files with your Cameo, EClips, eCraft, and most other cutting machines) I wanted to create a card using the cut file of the same image.  I think it's so exciting to find a wonderful image and be able to color the digital image or use the cut file.  Many of the PCW files are available in both formats.
Here's my card using the Bear in Bikini cut file.

So, whether you love to color or create with cut files (or both!) you'll find amazing images at

Cindy created this adorable card for this month's IFTL project recipient.
She used this week's free digi download.
Head over to her blog and get all the details.

Free Digi
A short word about our free digi. This digi was created with this month's IFTL recipient in mind. For those unfamiliar, IFTL (I Feel The Love) is a project created by our very own Madison. Each month a recipient is selected and handmade cards are created and sent to this individual and or family.  Please visit IFTL and consider taking just a small amount of your crafty time to create and send an encouraging work of he(art)!

Please visit again tomorrow as we continue our Sizzlin Summer excitement.  You'll see great ideas from each of the PCW designers and Melin will be releasing brand new cut files and digital stamps every Saturday beginning July 13th.  You won't want to miss a day!

And here is what I created . . .

(Sorry about the photo quality -- it has rained here for the last three or four days!)  If you've not made a freezer paper stencil before or need a refresher, check out my blog for step-by-step instructions.

Here is a close-up of the design:

The sleeves were folded up and tacked; then I added a piece of striped ribbon and a blue star button.  My nine-year old loves her new shirt!

"Sailboat" by Larelyn and a Look at Distressing

Good Morning!!
I'm so glad you're here for the start of our new Paper Crafting World
design team term and the beginning of our
Sizzlin' Summer posts.
I'm Larelyn and I have the privilege of posting first for our new term.

Although I love cut files, I'm a true digi gal at heart so I'm sharing a card I created using the
The papers I selected (Nautical set from Moxxie) have a definite vintage feel so my goal was to color and present the digi in a vintage manner.  I accomplished that by using several different distressing techniques.

Here's a close up so that you can see some of the techniques I used:
          1.  roughing the edges with a scissors blade
          2.  inking the corners and edges with chalk ink
          3.  using a crimper
          4. sponging distress ink on the image while still in the Spellbinders die cut
          5. selecting Copic Markers that carried out the distress color scheme
I have gone into greater depth and with tutorial pictures on my blog.
Just click HERE.

It's going to be a great summer and we're all excited to share our projects.
Be sure to visit each day to see fantastic creations by my fellow design team members.
