Fontastic Friday and Freebie

Happy Friday crafty friends,
Yesterday I shared my first of hopefully many Throwback Thursday posts and today is another first. I have decided to do new posts on Fridays called Fontastic Fridays. Trolling through Pinterest this summer was a great source of inspiration. But I am adding a twist on mine. Instead of just compiling a list and sharing the links, I am also going to be sharing a project with one of the free fonts and or possibly use them for the free svg file or digi stamp. So let’s get started.

Top 12 School Fonts

My projects this week have all focused on back to school. So I thought it was only appropriate that I should share some fonts that are school themed.  I found a nice mix of them and thought they would be great for a variety of projects. Here are the links to each file.

So now on to today’s project

Here’s a look at my finished card. Finished size is 5.5 x 5.5. I used the Charming Chevrons Stamp set. The base is kraft cardstock. I created a matching SVG cut file for the background frame.  I created three size frames. One 5.25 x 5.25 (the one I used) as well as one, 4x5.25 and one 4.75 x 6.25. I also created some cuts for the stamps themselves. The grey area (pic below) is solid paper and the white pieces are the cut outs in the files.

Here’s what the base looks like. I cut the frame out in plain white cardstock and then added a piece of the chalk it up paper pack as a mat. I then used my  Charming Chevrons  stamp set to stamp out the different colored stamped images on the frame. I used my Smoothie Ink Pad , My Lagoon Ink Pad, My Slate Ink Pad and my Flaxen Ink Pad.

I then stamped the sentiment from the You Mean The World To Me stamp set. I used my lagoon ink pad and some blue cardstock. I then created a mat from black cardstock and then a larger one from the white cardstock. I used my EK Success corner punch to punch out the corners. I then added a little arrow from the Chalk It Up stickers set. I added a little foam tape underneath to give it a little lift.

I then used a couple of my Martha Stewart punches to punch out the little butterflies.

Here you can see where I “added back In” the large chevron shape. I thought it worked well so I used my lagoon ink pad and stamped out and added some foam tape underneath to give it a little lift.

Here is a closer look at the pretty little bow. I used some ribbon in my stash.

Throwback Thursday Day 4 Card

Happy Thursday crafty friends,
Around the internet and on many social media sites, Thursday is known as throw back Thursday. A day in which you share photos, and other “things” from your past. So I have decided to start sharing projects that feature Stamps and or other products that are retired, no longer manufactured or have been around for quite some time. I will also share from time to time, pictures of past projects, etc.  So here is my first nod to Throwback Thursday.

Here’s a look at my card. It is a mix of some fun new products as well as some retired stamps from Close To My Heart. The finished size of the card is 5 x 6.5 and in Kraft Cardstock. I then cut a black cardstock and white cardstock  mat and then one from the Chalk It Up Paper Pack. I used my lagoon ink from the Adventure Ink Pad to ink around the edges of the patterned paper mat.  I then cut a smaller black mat and then a white one.

Here you can see that I used a stamp from the retired School Is Here stamp set from CTMH.

Here’s a closer look at the schoolhouse. This too is a retired stamp from the School Fun stamp set. I stamped it with my slate ink pad and then began coloring it with my Touch Twin Markers. I used a combination of the Carmine Marker and the Cherry Pink Marker. I then used the Mahogany Marker to color the doors. I then used the Golden Yellow Marker and the Marigold Marker  colored in the bell. For the bushes I used the Leaf Green Marker.

Here’s a closer look at the clouds from the Lifting Spirits stamp set. I stamped them with my Lagoon Ink Pad and then lightly colored them in with my watercolor pencils and my blending pen. I also lightly colored the background with the same watercolor pencil.  You can’t really tell but I stamped the schoolhouse on a separate piece of paper and then cut it out and added it to the background mat. After that, I did stamp the sentiment from the same retired School Is Here stamp set.
