Two Hello Cards Using DCWV Floral Fair

Good morning crafty friends,
Today I have a couple of cards to share with you. I used the gorgeous DCWV Floral Fair Paper Stack along with My Cricut Artiste Cartridge and some stamps and ink! This month is National Stamp Month, so I will be showcasing projects using some Great Closet To My Heart Stamps as well as some great digi stamps from PaperCraftingWorld.com. I also have a great little tip on how to "color your dew drops". So let’s get right to it.

Here are my two cards. I am created them for this month’s IFTL (I Feel The Love) September Recipients. Please be sure to head over and get the details and join in. You will be blessed that you did!

I cut my flowers out of the Artiste Cartridge from plain white cardstock.
I  used CTMH Hello Blooms Stamp Set to stamp the flowers. This stamp set has several stamps that have corresponding cuts to the cartridge. Instead of using the recommended size, I simply cut my flowers smaller and then lined the stamp up. It still covered the flowers perfectly.

I did this to create flowers with the Sunset, Gypsy and Barn Red Ink Pads. I glued and staggered the layers. Once the layers were dry, I took a thin bamboo skewer and shaped the petals to give them some dimension. The flowers were cut at 1.25, 1 and .75 inches for the different layers.

Next I wanted to add some dew drops to the centers. I have the pretty Morning Dew set. I love the clear softly colored look of the gems, but wanted a stronger more striking color, so I decided to try and “paint” the dew drop with my Smooch Pearlized Sugarberry Ink.

Here is a picture to show you what it looked like after I brushed some of that ink on. I thought it worked perfect! It still gave the gem a semi-translucent look but deepened the color beautifully!

Here is just a view showing what they look like…before and after… or in the case of this picture....after and before...lol.

So I decided to get crazy and used the Siren Smooch Ink to color the soft orange dew drops from the Island Blossom set.

Lastly, I used the little Hello sentiment from this stamp set and stamped it with the Cashmere Ink. I layered the card with layers of that pretty DCWV Floral Fair paper and added some ribbon from my American Crafts Dots stash of mini ribbon spools.
Here again is one last look at both of the cards.

I used the following products to complete these little gems.

First, The Heart 2 Heart challenge blog is having a color challenge and the other is a sketch challenge over at the seems a little sketchy challenge blog.

DCWV Hello Sweetheart Layout

Good morning crafty friends,
If you live and work in America, you are hopefully enjoying your Labor Day! Summer’s last holiday hoorah! Today I am sharing a cute little layout I created. I used some DCWV Baby Girl Stack 2 Papers as well as some cut files from PaperCraftingWorld.com.

dcwv baby girl stack layout hello sunshine 475
Here is my layout. The sweet little bear is holding the precious little flower. The background piece of paper already had the border and it is glittered too.

Here is a close up of the little bear paper piecing. If you are new to making bears or need a refresher on how to create these faces, then visit my creating faces tutorial: HERE.

Here is a closer look at the cute hello title. I used some Robin’s Nest Dew Drops for the tops of the flower’s stamens. I cute the title and flowers out of the same DCWV Baby Girl Stack paper with the exception of the yellow and white pieces.

Here is a shot of the entire border that came with the cut file set. I did use a Martha Stewart border punch for the white borders.

This is a closer look at the little flowers on the border. Love how easily the borders cut from the DCWV paper! This particular stack has the cardstock weight paper. Not too thin and not too thick.

Here is one last look at the layout. I added in the cute lime green ribbon with the yellow button and a little piece of twine. The Sweetheart letters were also cut from the DCWV paper using my beloved Pazzles Inspiration.

Chalkboard Card Details...Two Freebie Links

Hello crafty friends,
Here is my details post on my Chalkboard Card. I created it for yesterday's fabulous Friday post. I used the DCWV Snapshot Paper Stack as well as a free file from Pazzles and this week's free digi from PCW. First, Here is a look at my card.

The finished size is 5x6.5.  For all the designer patterned paper, I used the DCWV Snapshot Stack. It is currently on sale at DCWVDeals.com.PLUS, there is a code for buy three stacks for 19.98 deal. The code is LABORDAYDEAL or LABORDAY13, so be sure to grab some stacks!  Okay, aside from the paper, I used some svg cut files I created in my Pazzles Inspiration software and a free svg file from Pazzles. I used one of the chalkboard digi sentiments from this week’s “freebie” set. Links below.

chalkboard digi printout-475
I started by printing out my sentiments. I printed them all out as I will be making additional cards with the others and didn't want to waste paper :-) That "chalkboard" look is quite the rage these days, so I decided I would use the freebies from PCW this week.

chalk for digi-475
I cut out the Thinking of you sentiment and grabbed my well loved and well used chalks.

chalk application-475
I lightly brushed some of the white chalk on some of the letters and different areas on the digi. I wanted to give it that dusty chalkboard look and this was the perfect way to do it. I used my finger to just smudge a little here and there.

Here's a view of the "dusted up" chalk board sentiment.

paper on mat-475
I used a piece of paper in the Snapshot Stack. I positioned my cut file so that it would cut out right where it did so that I could get the paper fringed edge on the other side of the red lines. This way, when it cut out, it would look like a real piece of notebook paper.

paper cut out-475
Here is what the piece looked like once I cut it out. Love the DCWV cardstock weight. Not too heavy that it tears up your cuts but not too thin either Smile

clipboard-475
Here is a shot of the “clipboard”. I inked the edges of the board, paper and clip part. Later, I added a making memories faux “screw” brad to the top of the clip part.

Here's a shot showing that I cut the little banners out of another piece of DCWV paper from the Snapshot stack. Don't worry, I won't be wasting this paper just on these little cuts. It is way too yummy not to use....afterall...waste not, want not!

banners w numbers cu-475
Here is a close up look at the little banners. I added some tiny brads to the holes in the number charms. I used some foam tape to give them a little lift and allow the string to slide underneath. BTW…The Number Charms are a FREE file from Pazzles. See the link below and grab them while you can. Their files are in the WPC format for Pazzles as well as SVG for others too!

button close up-475
Here’s a closer look at the cute little buttons. Again, I used some hemp to match the look of the card. Here you can also see the faux screw brad I added to the top of the clipboard. I just thought the hole looked so bare and needed something. You can also see the tiny brown brad I used at the top of the easel.

paper clip cu-475
Here is a closer look at the funky little paper clip I added. I thought it just went well with the whole  overall design. It also matched the color of the banners pretty well.

Again, here is one last look at the completed card.
