YUM Cricut-Cut File Layout

Happy MONDAY everyone!

Sorry for the lack of posting this weekend. I had a class so I was CRAZY busy...But let's get the week rolling! This project was for the FCCB Challenge #18 :-) Cool Summer Treats was the theme. For me a cool, sweet piece of watermelon is an absolute icon of summer....YUM!

I used my Preserves cartridge to cut out the watermelon slices at the bottom of my layout and the Y and M letters are from the Learning Curve cartridge. The Large watermelon wedge, the bear and the melon piece she is holding were cuts I created. The flowers are from an EK punch. So was the border punch. The pink courderoy ribbon and the green ribbon are from May Arts. The glitter brads in the center of the flowers are from Making Memories.

Closeup view of the cute little bear holding her melon wedge...YUM!

Picked For You Cricut Card

Good morning Crafters,
Here is my PIO (pile it on challenge blog) DT submission for challenge #27. We used images from the Character Cafe. They are also sponsoring the challenge this week so please stop over there and check them out. I used the Sweethearts cartridge to cut out the cute little flowers. I cut them at 1.25". I used a slightly used mat. So it was sticky enough to hold but not too sticky that the flowers tore when getting them off :-).
So here are the challenges for this project:
PIO Holiday Colors for a NON holiday card (Christmas colors)
All Sorts - Heart
Crazy 4 Challenges - Red, Black & White
Speedy The Cat - Punches ( Photo corners are an EK punch)
Digi Doodleshop - Texture
Shabby Tea Room - Embossing
Card Patterns - Card Sketch

So needless to say, I had to hop over to random dot org and get a winner! The winner was.... Lucky #32.....Suzi Q. YEAH SUZI!

Suziq commented:
"God has definitely given you a great gift! How adorable! I love this layout. I believe those amazing penguins came from the Preserves cart. I found your site last month and became a follower. Thank you for creating such a great site to inspire us with your designs and sharing your faith".
Alright darling Suzi....I need to hear from you. Please email me at: melin (at) scrapbookeden (dot) com with your info so I can mail this layout to you!

Thank you to everyone who entered. I am going to have to roll up my sleeves and come up with a new challenge! Please stay tuned!

Happy Crafting....Melin

So Sweet Card Cricut and Cut File

Good morning all,
I am sharing this super cute card I made today! I used the Cindy Loo Cartridge to create the "Doily" background. I created the "So Sweet" title.
Here is a side view of the card to show dimension. You can't see it too well, but I glittered the whole doily with some Martha Stewart Glitter. I decided to "Kick It" old school style wit the glitter this time. I love my Stickles, but I just loved the texture of this glitter on the whole doily. It really gave it a nice effect.
Here is the inside of the card.

Here is a closeup of the inside top of the card. I cut another "doily" out of Cindy Loo and created the digi stamp sentiment.

Here is the bottom of the inside of the card. Ready for my personal sentiment to the recipient. I cut the cherries from the same title that I created.

Here's the recipe
  • Finished card size is 6 x 6

  • I used the Cindy Loo Cartridge - I cut two doilies out of white cardstock one at 5.75" for the outside of the card and one at 5.5" for the inside of the card.

  • Cricut With SCAL or MTC (or just about any other electronic die cutting device). This is to cut out the "So Sweet Title" I created.

  • Bazzill cardstock: White(Simply Smooth), Tomato(Red) and Raven(black)

  • Copic Markers: Green(Colored in the cherry Stems).

  • Basic Grey: Patterned Paper. (Cut three pieces: one at 5 and 7/8th" one at 5.75" and one at 5.5"

  • Printed Out the Digi Sentiment I created.

  • Colorbox Chalk Inks: Creamy Brown, Chestnut Roan, Maroon (Inked outer edge of outside doily and the white Outline of the title in Creamy brown for just the slightest grunge effect)Inked the patterned paper and inside white in the Chestnut Roan and the cherries in Maroon).

  • Glitter: Martha Stewart coarse glitter( I covered the outside doily completely in this. It really gave it a great effect. Sorry the picture really doesn't convey this element).

  • Stickles: Red and Lime Green (Used red on the red title letters and Lime Green on the Outside Cherry Stems)

  • White Signo Pen

Rolled or Lollipop Flower Tutorial

Good afternoon all,
I am just posting a quick "how to" on the roses I made on the card I posted a few days ago. I have received several emails with questions. I hope this will help :-)

As always, if you have ANY questions, please feel free to email me at:
melin at scrapbookeden dot com!
Okay....Here we go!
To start, you will cut out the flowers in the desired paper. You can get the cutting file HERE. It has the following formats: SVG, GSD, WPC and KNK.
Next I Inked the edges of BOTH sides. I wasn't too careful about how I inked as I wanted the flowers to have a "shabby" appearance.

After inking the edges, I spritzed some Glimmer Mist onto my mat and used a sponge to brush it onto the rose. 100% coverage. If you don't have Glimmer Mist, you can always use plain water.

Here is a shot of brushing the Glimmer Mist On.
Now you will begin to roll the rose. With the papter moist, it will be very easy to bend the paper without tearing it. You can use anything you have that has a round, smooth barrel. I used the barrel of my chalk applicator. Just begin to wrap it around your object. The smaller the object, th tighter the roll.

Here is a shot of the paper rolled around just once.
Here is a shot of it rolled a few times. I just tried to keep the "roll or wrap" as parallel and or straight with the rest of the roll.

Here I am at the end. The middle will ultimately be your bottom.

Now I just attached a glue dot to the bottom and will "sit" the rest of the rose on that.

Here is the finished rose. This shot was actually taken BEFORE I glued it down. When you do this with "moist" paper, it will keep its "roll" or shape real well.

Here are a few variations. Some were the same, I just rolled them "tighter" the little one was the file sized down and the darker pink ones are from a patterned paper that had a white core.
The sky is the limit with what and how you can make these roses.
Head over to PCW for the rolled rose file: HERE
