RELEASE 2015 JRL Creative Challenge #1

Happy Friday crafty friends,
Hope your week went well and are getting ready for a fun weekend of crafting! Today’s post is for the JRLCreative Challenge. Our challenge was to create a project reflecting our goals or resolutions for 2015. I didn’t make any “resolutions” and have some goals, but I wanted to do a layout with my word for the year. I thought a lot about it and the word that came to me was Release. I am asking the Lord to release so many things in my life…personally as well as professionally. And I want to accomplish all that I believe I am capable of accomplishing…BUT it will only happen with…RELEASE…..Release of past mistakes. Release of a new direction…Release to be free to move unencumbered in the direction the Lord has for me….RELEASE. So here is what I came up with.

The birdcage was cut in plain white cardstock from the Artfully Sent cartridge. and then embossed with Gold embossing powder.

I didn’t have the right color paper for the mat, so I used my peony purple marker to color in some plain white cardstock for the outer mat to the scripture that defines my “release”

I used my various shin han touch twin markers to color in the pretty butterflies from the Your Own kind of wonderful stamp set. I used my black ink pad to stamp the butterflies and then cut the large ones out by hand. I stamped the little tiny black butterflies right onto the layout after I placed the large ones where I wanted. I then finished off the look by adding some scattered sequins.

I used the bodacious banners stamp set along with my sky ink pad to stamp the banners. I then turned to my Glamour Uppercase Alphabet stamp set  and my black ink pad to stamp the letters onto the banners. The banners were cut with my Art Philosophy cartridge

For the pretty swirls, I used my The Best Things stamp set and my black ink pad to create the pretty borders.

Here is one last look at my completed layout. I think it is a pretty visual reminder that I will hang in my craft room for 2015!

Doodlecharms and DCWV Crow Piecings Layout

Hello crafty friends,
I was going through my blog and I don't know how this got "unpublished" from last year, so I went ahead and republished this post. Strange how technology works, but somehow I messed things up...so I guess you could consider this a "throwback Thursday" sorta post...lol.  Anyway here it is....I am sharing a layout I created with the Doodlecharms cartridge and some great DCWV Citrus Stack Paper.

Here is a look at my entire two page layout. All the cuts were from the Doodlecharms Cartridge. The cute little crows are my own designs, paper pieced from cuts found on the cartridge. The letters are from the Art Philosophy cartridge. All of the pretty, patterned paper is from the DCWV Citrus Stack. I love that these paper would work for many different types of layouts and projects.

Here is a closer look at the cute little crow sitting on top of a photo mat holding his cornstalk. Next to him is a basket full of harvest goodies. I used some Pebbles Basic Chalks for the white around the crow’s pieces as well as some Frost White Pigment Ink. I used Maroon Chalk Ink for the apples, Cocoa for the basket, Orange for the Pumpkins. Warm Green for the leaves and stalks. Butterscotch for the corn, beaks, feet and hay bale. I also used my Copic E59 marker to color the apple and pumpkin stems. I decided to do that as opposed to cutting out all of the stems separately in brown paper…Waste not, want not. All of these supplies can be found at Scrapyland.com

Wonderful School Year Layout Featuring Art Philosophy Bear Piecings

Happy Tuesday crafty friends,
Well it has been a few days since my last post. Boy, sometimes life just throws you a bunch of curve balls and they are usually all at once. But praise God we get through them. So today’s project features some more of the wonderful Chalk It up Paper pack and chalk it up complements that I have been working with. So let’s get right to it.

Here’s a look at the entire layout. I used some kraft cardstock for the background and then used papers from the Chalk It Up Paper pack. I did also use some white cardstock for the white mats.

Bear paper piecing. He is created with cardstock, My Expression machine and the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge bundle. I used my water color pencils to add a little “rosy” to his cheeks. The glint in his eyes are from y Chalk Marker and then I used a fine tip black pen for his mouth and eyelashes. I Inked the edges of the pieces with my desert sand ink from the Basics Ink Pad set.

Here are a few more of the Chalk It Up Chipboard Complements that I used. You can also see that I used my Lagoon ink from my Adventure Ink Pad set to ink the edges of the mats.

Of course it is national Stamping month so I had to include a bit of stamping. These two stamps are from the 30 years of happy set that you can get for FREE this month only. See details below. I used my Lagoon Ink Pad to stamp them and then used my circle punch to punch out the black circles and then used a smaller punch I had on hand to punch out the stamped images.

Here is one last look at the super cute layout. Perfect for those back to school pics and really pretty easy to do.
