Faith Journal: Week 2 Romans 8 38-39

Happy Sunday crafty friends,
Today I am sharing my faith journal page from this past week.  It was week 2. I know as this goes, I will always be sharing after the week is over, but if you want to join along, please feel free to join the Facebook Group(link below). This past week the scripture focus was on Romans 8:31-38.

Here’s a look at my completed journal artwork. I created the frame, the cross filigree svg cut file and the banner at the bottom all in my Pazzles software.

Here is a picture of the cross. I cut it out in plain white cardstock. I then used my ink and embossing powder to give it the copper look.

Here is a photo of what the embossed cross looks like. I purposely left the finish bumpy and with some imperfections. I was thinking about the song…the “Old Rugged Cross”. I did add a few Queen and Company gems I had in my stash.  I once again used papers from the Paper Studio Kirby Teesdale Stack. I inked the edges of the ragged edge mat with some Chocolate ink. The oval pink and kraft mats as well as the green patterned paper are inked with some Cat’s Eye Chestnut Roan Chalk Ink.

Here is a closer look at the banner. I printed it out on plain copy paper. It wasn’t intentional but instead of printing it out on cardstock, I thought this worked well. I just bent the sides. I added some foam adhesive under the banner to give it an appropriate amount of lift.

Here is another look at the embossed cross. You can see I added some burlap ribbon underneath. I just cut some from a 2”wide spool and then trimmed the wired sides. I then pulled out a couple of layers of the threads to give the edges a bit of a frayed look.

Here’s a view of the journal with my writing for the week. It was a challenging week physically and often times when you are setting your feet on a steady course towards the Lord, you inevitably come against adversity.  But I am so grateful for His Love and steadfastness towards us.

This week's scripture: Hebrews 11:1

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for,
the evidence of things not seen.

HOWEVER, do yourself a favor and read the entire chapter. This is one of my absolute favorite passages of scripture. It is IMMENSLEY INSPIRING!!!

DCWV Butterfly Garden and Pazzles Floral and Gold Birthday Card

Hello crafty friends,

So glad you stopped by!
Side note: This was supposed to post yesterday but apparently I didn't set it up right. So sorry about that. Please bare with me as I shake the dust off my blogging skills...lol!

Today I am sharing a pretty, floral, soft pink and gold card I created.

DCWV Butterfly Garden SVG Cut File Card
Here’s a look at my completed card. The finished size is 5x6.5. I started by using a file set I created exclusively for the Pazzles Craft Room. If you are a member of the craft room then you can download this for free as part of your membership. If not, you may want to consider joining. All of their files are in SVG format so they will work on most craft cutters and not just the Pazzles!

Here’s a closer look at the different layers. The papers are from the DCWV Butterfly Garden Stack. The rest of the paper is white cardstock.  This shot also shows how I used some foam tape underneath the layers to give them a little lift. Like one of the designers I follow says, “When in doubt….pop it out”!

Paper Flowers SVG Cut Files
You can see in this photo, my flowers and leaves all started as plain white cardstock. I inked the edges of them to add just a touch of soft color. I used the Martha Stewart Chalk inks pad set.  For the center die cut, I used my CTMH Slate ink pad and a sentiment from a retired CTMH stamp set to stamp the sentiment. I also inked the edge of the die cut with more of the light pink ink from the Martha Stewart Chalk Inks. You can see I added a couple of pearl stickers from Paper Studio.

DCWV Butterfly Garden Stack Card
For the centers of the flowers, I used some Tsukineko Galaxy Gold ink to ink the little die cut and then used a gold sequin and a little dot of Bisque liquid pearls.  For the corner die cut, I used the same Tsukineko Galaxy Gold ink pad as it was also cut in plain white cardstock.

Here is one last look at the completed card. I hope my recipient will like it.

Hide His Word In My HeART Faith Journaling

Faith Journal Heart Tag SVG Cut File Melinda Beltran
 Hello crafty friends,
Another post….SHOCKING I KNOW! But you had better get used to it….I’m BAAACCCCKKK!!!  One of the things I really want to do this year is follow along with a faith journaling group that I have been a member of for a while. I have not done any type of “bible journaling” or “faith journaling” and that is something I have been wanting to do for quite some time. So this was the perfect time to join in!!!!  This past week was week one…. The scripture was Colossians 3:16.  So all week long I have been listening to Colossians 3, the entire chapter. There is some challenging stuff to hear but the scripture focus for the group was verse 16

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

I ordered the same sketch-journaling pad that MayMay is using. As I hadn’t done this before, I thought I would try it out.  It is a great size. You can slice an 8.5 x 11 piece of paper in half and the 5.5 x 8.5 piece fits perfectly on the page.  You can head over to the group and join if you want. The group link is HERE.  It is run by a gal named MayMay. She also provides a link to download a journaling page that you can print out and use.

I created my own page as I wanted to have an area to just journal some thoughts and a prayer. I also added a space to write out the scripture. She has challenged us to get into our Bibles more and by only writing the reference, it will hopefully encourage you to look into your Bible more. However, I still wanted to write it out for myself.

Here’s a look at the complete first page. I didn’t get my journal until Tuesday night, so I didn’t really get to write much in there during the week.

Here’s a closer look at my journaling art page. I love that Kirby Teasdale vintagey paper from Hobby Lobby. I inked the edges with some brown ink to give it more of a vintage-type look. I thought the image of the hand writing on the postcard was appropriate. I then created the heart image with the scripture inside it.I then designed the heart cuts along with the tag cut. I did just a little layering of the elements. I finished off the tag with a pretty decorative brad and a fun little antique key I had in my stash. The ribbon is from May Arts and the little flat back pearls are from Paper Studio(Hobby Lobby).

Here’s a closer look at the heart image. I created this in Photoshop and then printed it out so that it would fit on the scalloped heart cut. I inked the edges of the heart, the scalloped heart die cut and the tags all with some brown ink. I wanted to knock the white back just a bit and stick with the shabby chic look.

Here is a closer look at my journaling page. Again, I got my journal mid-week so I wasn’t able to journal during the week. I have also decided that I am NOT going to condemn myself if I don’t “write” something in here every single day. So I may from time to time have blank spaces. I did however put a place at the bottom where I could write my thoughts and prayer. Sorry, I blurred out my writing as the whole point of this for me is to be honest with myself and my God about what is and isn’t going right and where I can improve.

CTMH Stamps and Inks Melinda Beltran
This is the stamp set I used. It is a retired set from Close To My Heart. I used some Pixie, Cotton Candy and Olive ink.

Warm Winter Wishes FREE Printable Card Front

warm winter wishes printable card 650
Hello crafty friends,
I hope your 2017 is shaping up to be a great one. Today in Central Florida it’s rainy and more than a little chilly! I am not complaining though. So many hot days here that this cold snap is a nice change!

Today I am sharing a fun printable card front I created. One of my goals for 2017 is to make some “simple and easy” cards that I can actually get done and send out. I have decided to try my hand at creating some easy “printable” card tops. Here is the first of many!

www printable card front side view-650
Here is a closer look at the card front. The finished size of the card is 5 x 6.5.
As you can see, It looks like layers of decorative papers, but it is one printed image. I printed it out and then trimmed it. I layered it onto a plain white mat and then adhered that to the cream colored card base. The only other additions are the pretty little brown crystals on top of the snowflakes and on the top left corner.
