To CAS or NOT to CAS…That is the ????

Happy Monday crafty friends,
I hope your weekend was a great one. Today I am sharing a card I created with a birthday theme. I actually need a few more birthday cards for this month. I was scoping out some challenges for some inspiration. For those of you that follow me, you know I am not necessarily a CAS(Clean And Simple) style crafter.  I am however very intrigued by that style and enjoy looking at what others do. Anyway, I came across a challenge and all of their cards like many you see in current publications are CAS crafts, very nice. Well, I decided to give it a go….and this is what I came up with.

This card was a little more difficult for me…..WHY? you ask….Because I kept wanting to add more and more layers, ribbon, borders, die cuts, flowers….oh I could go on and on…lol. I think you get it. That white space was just screaming for something….anything!!!  The only way to grow is to go outside your comfort zone…so “they” say….So I left it alone. Okay enough of my monologue… Let’s talk about what I did use. For the little Owl, I used this month’s Stamp of the Month. This super cute set can be yours for a whopping $5 bucks with a qualifying purchase on my link.

I also used some of the new Confetti Wishes paper pack. It is one of 9 new collections in the new Annual Inspirations catalog. For the embossing, I used an old Sizzix plate I had in my stash.

I  used my black ink pad to stamp the owl. I then colored the owl in with some of my new  Shinhan Touch Twin markers. I used my Marigold Marker, My Pastel Peach Marker and my Golden Yellow marker.

For her eyes, I used my honey ink pad and stamped them. I then added some tiny buttons from my stash to the centers. I then used my Thistle ink pad and stamped her hat. I then used some Stickles to add just a touch of flair to her little party hat. I then sprinkled a few more little buttons from my stash.

I finished off the card by stamping the sentiment from the new Your Own Kind Of Wonderful Stamp setFor the stamp of the month What a Hoot stamp set, I did create matching SVG cut files so that I can have my beloved  Pazzles Inspiration  cut out the pieces and I can just stamp several at a time without having to fussy cut all those pieces.

Toothless Smile Using Picture My Life, SVG and My Pazzles Inspiration

Hello crafty friends,
Hope you are enjoying your Sunday! Today I am sharing a layout I created with some more of the wonderful, new CTMH products.

toothless-490

Here’s a look at my entire layout. I had my grandson over and it just so happened that he lost his first top front tooth while he was staying with us!! My daughter snapped a couple photos so we could memorialize it as well as send them off to his mom. He wanted to make sure she saw the tooth before the tooth fairy came and took it…lol.

For the layout I used a plain black cardstock base. The cute little bear tooth fairy and teeth are SVG cut files I created using my Pazzles Inspiration machine and software. I will be sharing how to get the files very soon! The patterned paper is from the paper fundamentals basic set. While all 9 new paper collections are fabulous, and I will be sharing projects with those made soon, the paper fundamentals sets have a great mix of papers!

Here’s a photo of one of the cards in the Picture My Life For Always Set. I trimmed it down just a bit.

Here’s a closer look at my sweet little tooth fairy bear. I didn’t want to make this page too “baby-ish” or too girly, but I just had to include this cutie!

bear cheekscu-490
For the cheeks on both the bear and Mr. tooth as well as the inside of the bears’ ears. I used my Watercolor pencils and used the Bubblegum pencil. I gently colored in the cheeks in a small circular motion. I then went over it with my blending pen and I think it turned out every bit as good as my OLD method of using chalks. I have been wanting to try this method. I also used my Whimsy Ink Pad for the bears’ wings. I used the new Glacier mini pad. I used my Basics Ink Pad set for the bears brown and cream pieces. For the brown pieces, I used the Saddle pad and for the cream pieces, I used Bamboo.

Here’s a closer look at my title. In this photo you can also see where I used my Silver Marker and created a faux stitched border around the entire layout.

coloring-490
Here you can see after I stamped my title with my black ink pad using my Hopscotch Alphabet stamp set, I decided to color the letters in with my new Carmine Marker. I cut a couple of little teeth cuts in black for the centers of my O’s. I used some foam tape and adhered it to my layout.

TIP Coloring The Eyes
blue eyes-490
I started by cutting the eyes out in plain white cardstock. I then used my new Shinhan Turquoise Blue Marker to color in the eyes. I left just a little white showing at the bottom.

black eyes-490
Next I used my new Black Marker and colored right over the Turquoise. It was great. It didn’t bleed and I left just a little of the Turquoise showing at the bottom.

mrtooth-490
Here’s what the finished eyes looked like. I just added a little white dot for glints using my Chalk Marker. I used my new Whimsy Ink Pad set to ink the edges of my teeth with the Flaxen mini pad.
