Gold DCWV Stackaholic Challenge Card

Hello crafty friends,
Hope you’re Thursday is going well. Today I have a simple and elegant card to share with you. First, for those reading along with me in Psalms for the counting of the Omer, here is today’s passage.

ד Daleth
25 My soul clings to the dust;
Revive me according to Your word.
26 I have declared my ways, and You answered me;
Teach me Your statutes.
27 Make me understand the way of Your precepts;
So shall I meditate on Your wonderful works.
28 My soul melts from heaviness;
Strengthen me according to Your word.
29 Remove from me the way of lying,
And grant me Your law graciously.
30 I have chosen the way of truth;
Your judgments I have laid before me.
31 I cling to Your testimonies;
O Lord, do not put me to shame!
32 I will run the course of Your commandments,
For You shall enlarge my heart.
Psalm 119: 25-32

Many blessings to you for taking the time to read and meditate on His Holy Word. Now on to today’s project. As I stated above, it is a really quick and easy card.

Here’s a look at my card. The finished size is 5 x 6.5. I began with a Kraft cardstock base. I then added a pink cardstock mat and then used some beautiful paper from the DCWV – Die Cuts With A View Gilded Paper stack. I followed along with this month’s Stackaholic Sketch challenge.

Here is the sketch for the challenge.

Here’s a side view. This shows the beautiful foil finish of the paper. Gorgeous. I used my  Cricut Artbooking cartridge and cut out the frame with some more of the paper from the Gilded Stack. I inked the edges with my Dessert Sand ink pad I placed the cuts on a corresponding chipboard frame that comes with the Cricut Artbooking Bundle. You get the cartridge, 3 stamp sets and a set of chipboard elements that match cuts from the cartridge.

I then created a border with some cream lace I had in my stash I wanted to hide the mechanics when I used a strip of vellum to mute the layer. I love that you can still see the paper design underneath. I then added some pearl sand some vintage buttons I had in my stash. I used glue dots to adhere the buttons onto the lace. They worked really well for this. I also used some foam tape underneath the frame to give it just a little lift.   The card came together very quickly. I created it for the National Scrapbook Month online crop I participated in. Our challenge was to use the color gold. So the DCWV papers fit perfectly!

Owl Birthday Card With My Pazzles

Happy Hump day crafty peeps! Hope you’re week is going well. For those following along with the Psalm reading for the counting of the Omer, here is today’s passage:

ג Gimel

17 Deal bountifully with Your servant,

That I may live and keep Your word.

18 Open my eyes, that I may see

Wondrous things from Your law.

19 I am a stranger in the earth;
Do not hide Your commandments from me.
20 My soul breaks with longing
For Your judgments at all times.
21 You rebuke the proud—the cursed,
Who stray from Your commandments.
22 Remove from me reproach and contempt,
For I have kept Your testimonies.
23 Princes also sit and speak against me,
But Your servant meditates on Your statutes.
24 Your testimonies also are my delight
And my counselors.
Psalm 119: 17-24

May the Lord open the eyes of our hearts that we may see His goodness and mercy. Blessings to you for reading and meditating on His Word.

Now on to today’s project. My daughter asked me to make a card for her. She had a friend who was celebrating a birthday recently. Her friend loves owls, so this is what I came up with.

I created this super cute owl in my Pazzles Inspiration software. I turned her into a card by welding the base image together. I used some patterned paper from the Neon Chic Stack from Die Cuts With A View. I also used some black glitter paper from the Glitzy Glitter stack for her shoes, eyes and eyelashes.

I inked her blue eyes with Lagoon and beak pieces with Sunset inks from my Adventure Ink Pad set. I also inked her tummy piece with some Blush ink  and her other pieces with some Cranberry Ink pad  and Ruby Ink pads.

Here’s a closer look, you still can’t see the “glitter” of the black of her eyes and eyelashes too well, but it is a nice paper with a good coating that won’t let the glitter shed. I used some stickles for the white of the eye glints. I topped her off with a pretty little purple bow and a gem from the Clear Sparkles Assortment set.  I think she turned out super cute and my daughter informed me that her friend really liked it. So it was a win-win Smile

Happy Birthday Quick and Easy Cards

Happy Tuesday my crafty friends!
Here is today’s Passage for those following along with the counting of the Omer and reading in Psalms with me.

Beth
Psalms 119:9-16
9 How can a young man cleanse his way?
         By taking heed according to Your word.

10 With my whole heart I have sought You;
         Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments!
11 Your word I have hidden in my heart,
         That I might not sin against You.
12 Blessed are You, O LORD!
         Teach me Your statutes.
13 With my lips I have declared
         All the judgments of Your mouth.
14 I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies,
         As much as in all riches.
15 I will meditate on Your precepts,
         And contemplate Your ways.
16 I will delight myself in Your statutes;
         I will not forget Your word.

As I said previously Psalm 119:11 is so special to me. It is one of the first verses I taught my little Prims when I was a “Sunday school” teacher. Oh the importance of having His precious word in our hearts. That way when the tough stuff of life comes against us, we have a deep well of hope, love, strength and peace to draw from. I pray that you will join me in working on continuing to “hide HIS WORD in our hearts. Blessings to each of you who takes the time to read His Word and Do HIS Word.

Now on to my projects for today. They are a couple of quick and easy cards that any crafter will need in their card-making arsenal. I recently participated in an online National Scrapbook Day event and one of our challenges was to do a birthday card. So I didn't want to take too much time as there were other challenges to get to. So this is what I came up with.

Here’s my first card. I used the Cricut Artiste stamp set and cartridge to create the cupcakes. I simply cut them out and then stamped in Pear Ink and Gypsy Ink . I then inked the Birthday Wishes stamp with some Lagoon ink. I used some of the (retired) CTMH Dotty For You paper . I then added a couple of borders of white cardstock using an EK Success border punch. Lastly I added a bow with some ribbon in my stash. I purposely picked colors that could be used for a boy or girl card.

For my second card, our challenge was to use: Pink, Blue, Green and Yellow. I used the same Artiste  cuts and stamp for the cupcakes. I did use some foam tape to give the cupcakes a little life.   This time I used some of the Crystal Blue Ink and some of the Blush Ink to stamp the cupcakes. The happy birthday sentiment was also stamped in Crystal Ink. I again used some of the retired dotty for you paper and then added a simple strip of yellow cardstock. Lastly I added a strip of ribbon and a pink plaid bow. Simply easy and quick.
