Here’s a close up of the cupcake. I wanted to explain how I did the cupcake top, etc. I cut those pieces out in plain white cardstock. I used my Autumn Terracotta Ink Pad and my Chocolate Ink Pad and a sponge to lightly tap the color onto each of the three layers. I then edged them with the Autumn Terracotta Ink Pad for a little definition. Then I used my Chalk Marker and made the doodle-shine marks and then went over them and the heart with my Stardust Glitter Gel. Lastly I used my Gypsy Ink Pad to edge the bottom and my Versamarker pen to create the lines.

I used the Whisper Ink Pad and a sponge to lightly ink around the edges of the mouse pieces and used my Cotton Candy Ink Pad to edge and sponge in the nose and inner ear pieces. I used my Cranberry Ink Pad to sponge in the ribbon pieces.

3D MAILBOX

I used the following to complete
mailbox-3d-cf-350

Red and Black Cardstock
White Signo Pen
DCWV Stack 8 Patterned Paper – SEE ABOVE FOR SALE LINK
Vintage Graphics

The body of the mailbox cuts in one piece on a 12x12 piece.

Design Note: I would cut and decorate my decorative panels before you assemble the box. This way you can adhere them down and use a flat surface to really press on them and get good adhesion. I cut the outer decorative panel in black and then the inner one in the patterned paper. I then printed out my graphics and cut them and adhered them as the third layer. I used my signo pen to create the faux stitching around the black panels.

Be sure to head over to our link up post and grab this week’s free cutting file and link up your “cut file” creation Smile
Thank you for stopping by!

Cartridge Showcase: Home Decor and More

Hello and welcome to our Monday Cartridge with Madison from Funky Cards.  Madison has some great projects here from the HOME DECOR AND MORE cartridge.

With this cartridge, I was able to make birthday, Valentine's Day, and thinking of you cards.  What I really like about this cartridge is that it contains a variety of phrases and borders in addition to the main images that you would typically use the cartridge for.

The first project is a birthday card.  Many of you may have seen cards, t-shirts, and images on the internet with the phrase, "Keep calm and carry on."  The original phrase was designed using a bright background, white letters, and a crown and has since been changed to say, "Keep calm and _______" (you can fill in the blank with whatever word you choose).

The crown on this birthday card was cut from the image on page 34, while the word calm was cut from the monogram on page 77.  I chose to use a simple font from another cartridge to follow the original "Keep Calm" design.

To create this Valentine's Day card, the heart from page 64 was cut out of the patterned paper leaving the negative.  A smaller deep read heart was then cut and placed in the center.  The word love was cut from the border on page 77.  This is one of the borders that I had never used before but looks great and actually cut very nicely.

This final project came together as a card that could be sent to let someone know that you are thinking of them.  It is a card of encouragement.  The card was made using the phrase and border features that can be found on page 50.  I chose to use a solid background and patterned paper for the bird to brighten up the card.  The embossing and flowers were added to give the card added interest.

I hope you have been inspired to check out your cartridges in a new way.  Look beyond the obvious and see what you can design.  There are endless possibilities.

A big thank you to Madison for her great showcae.  Please visit Madison at her blog, Funky Cards
