Cartridge Showcase: Simply Charmed

Today Chef Michelle is featuring several projects including a mini-album she made using the Cricut Simply Charmed  cartridge.  This charming cartridge is certain to put a smile on your face!  It is filled with a wide range of adorable layered images, has something for seasonal, holiday, and everyday craft projects. This cartridge includes: Layer 1, Layer 2, Layer 3, Layer 4, Shadow, and Word creative features.   It also has a coordinating Cricut Companion Cuttlebug folder set!
So without further ado . . . here's Michelle!

This is the cutest cartridge I own!! I know it is a little older however there are SO many projects you can create! I have created a few. Some I have posted already and will just showcase the pictures again with a link to the blog post with more details.

For my first project I made some goodie bags for the children that come on the bus at our church. I wanted to give them a little bit of God's Word to let them know He loves them as well as our church.

I used the pumpkin and created it my gypsy with the hide feature. I embossed it and glitzed the vine and leaves with some green stickles. Find out more about this project
Here.

For my next "showcase" (I feel like the announcer for the Price is Right, LOL!), I made a Christmas card. I used the Santa and chimney. I welded them together on my Gypsy. (I don't know how I survived without this before...definitely better than DS.) You can find all of the details about Santa HERE.

This cart has GREAT layering features!!  Now for my next project it is a little dear to my heart...literally! This Saturday is my husband's and mine 19th anniversary! I created this heart shape book using cereal boxes and layering it with some sturdy card stock. I can't remember the name of the paper used for all, but most of them are DCWV Penny Lane. This project was designed using my Gypsy.

I covered the Key with some glittery goldish paper to look "used". The heart it is attached to is actually a heart lock. I just cut off the lock part and popped it up on my book cover. The key is pop up to with foam dots. I used some flowers from valentines and connected it to the front with a brad. The ribbon is from my stash.

The stamped sentiment is from a stamp set I bought from Hobby Lobby or something like that. Not only do I collect paper, but I collect ribbon and stamps!! LOL!

The flourish is the ONLY thing I did not cut from Simply Charmed. I honestly had this on my table and this page looked like it needed some detail...voila!

This tag is removable. I stamped it and cut it out.

The sentiment comes from a Stamping Up! set.  This cartridge is SO versatile!!!

Last but certainly not least, I made a Christmas decoration. I know, I know! It is not even Thanksgiving...BUT I LOVE this time of year and get so excited. If my husband would let me, I would SO decorate for Christmas NOW!! LOL!

I took this glass block, some blue tissue paper, Glossy Mod Podge, and some cute cuts from Simply Charmed and here is the end result......

This penguin, like many other cuts, is SUPER adorable. I used all the layer features for the penguin minus the eyes. I used a Peachy Keen Stamp Critter face. I only used the eyes and eyebrows of the stamp. Not only does this cartridge have many images, but it also has phrases! I used the phrase that went with some cute mittens and hats and put this as my sentiment. I then used diamond stickles stickles to accent the phrase.

To cover the glass block, I painted it with Mod Podge and laid the tissue paper over it. I then painted over it again. (Be very careful. the tissue is DELICATE and tears easily!) I then placed all my cut once it was dry and painted over it to "set" it.

As you can see, this cartridge has an unlimited use as far as your imagination will take you. I hope you have enjoyed the projects as much as I enjoyed making them.

Happy Crafting,
Michelle

Cartridge Showcase: Something to Celebrate

Today Chef Mindy is featuring cards and gift boxes she made using the Cricut Something to Celebrate cartridge.  This cartridge is filled with cute party-themed images that are perfect for the celebrations in your life. The cards, boxes, bags, cupcake wrappers, and tags are perfect for any occasion. It has rosettes, banner pennants and a cute candle font, too.

So without further ado . . . here's Mindy!

Hi, this is Mindy and it's my turn to host the Cooking With Cricut cartridge showcase.  I have chosen to showcase the cartridge Something to Celebrate.  This is a newer cartridge and it is adorable.  It has a little something for all sorts of events like birthdays, baby showers, graduations and more.   The cartridge has several features -- there are shaped cards, a font, font shaped cards, and decor items.
My first project is this adorable cupcake shaped card.  I cut the card at 5 1/2 inches and then cut the actual cupcake and it's layers at the same size. This worked great and the card base served as a shadow for the layered image.  I finished the card with some googly eyes which are perfect for this cartridge because most of the images have faces on them.  If you are not a fan of the faces, you could definitely hide them with your Gypsy, Design Studio or in the Cricut Craft Room.

For my next project I used one of the images by itself.  I chose this piece of pie and decided to make it look like pumpkin pie.  This makes a great Thanksgiving card.  Once again I used googly eyes on the piece of pie and added the image to the card with an action wobble to give it some movement.

Next I decided to make two of the decor items from the cartridge.  The hot pink pillow box is the decor item from the pennant cut on page 45.  I cut it at "fit to page" which ended up being 5 3/4 inches -- a really nice size.  You could fill this box with some candy and a gift card and give it to someone for their birthday.  That would be much more exciting than just putting the gift card in an envelope.  I decorated my box with a birthday cake, but you could easily change the cake to the graduation cap or the stork and use it for whatever you need.

The other decor item I made is this little pink polka dotted favor box.  This is the decor cut from the streamers image on page 40. I also cut this at "fit to page" and it ended up being 2 1/2 inches.  This is the perfect size to use as a little candy favor box to put on the table at a shower or birthday party.
I have only touched the tip of the iceberg with this cartridge.  As I mentioned before it also has a font letters and number with and without a little flame on the top.  You can also make a shaped card out of the numbers and letters.  The number shaped cards would be perfect for a child's birthday.  I hope I have inspired you to take a look at the Something to Celebrate cartridge and see what you can make with it.
- Mindy
Great job, Mindy!  These are sooo cute!  Please check out all the details for these projects and more at Chef Mindy's blog Scrappy and Piggy.  We'll see you back here Wednesday for our weekly Design Team challenge and you won't want to miss Chef Michelle's Cartridge Showcase on Thursday.  She is featuring the Simply Charmed cartridge.

The hop theme is to reflect what we are thankful for. There is so much to be thankful for.....Family, Friends and all the wonderful elements that add to our life.
But I would have to say that the my heart is most thankful for my relationship with my Lord and Saviour....Jesus Christ...Yeshua HaMashiach!
I am so thankful for His love, mercy and grace in my life. I was such a lost woman. Found myself with no hope, in a dead and lifeless marriage, trapped in a dead end job and intensely unhappy. Then God...in His wonderful grace and mercy...brought me to life, gave me wings and my heart could sing again. I learned how to love through Him and am forever thankful for all He has done for me. To me...He is not some far off, existential thought or celestial being that is far away...He is what His Word says He is....Closer than a brother!!!! He is my Redeemer, my ever present help in time of trouble. He is my source of strength, my hope. As the days grow dark and a strong sense of uncertainty looms around our Country and it's future...I believe His Word that says.....

For this reason I also suffer these things, but I am not ashamed; for I know whom I have believed and I am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him until that day.
