Cartridge Showcase: Joys of the Season

Welcome to our Market Fresh Mondaze cartridge showcase!  This week our CWC Design Team members Court and Jen have teamed up to bring you some Christmas inspiration using that oldie, but goodie . . .  the Cricut "Joys of the Season" cartridge.

The ladies really wanted to give you some ideas that are "out-of-the-box" to help you use your cartridge in new ways.  This showcase is going to be fun -- Court and Jen have very different styles, so there is certain to be something here for everyone!  So without further ado  . . .

Hi, this is Court! Joys of the Season (JOTS) is a great cartridge for the impending Christmas Season (which I am SOOOO excited for)!

For my first project, I created an ornament. I stared out with a glass ornament that I got at Michael's recently (40% off)!  I squirted a lot of glitter paint into it and let it let the excess drip out overnight. Then I simply cut out the mitten with Square 1 vinyl, added the year with stickers, and a big bow at the top!

The second project is an altered wall hanging.  This is what it looked like when I bought it for $1.50 at Michael’s:

Then I scraped the sticker off, by submersing it in soapy warm water and using my amazing Pampered Chef scraper!

Then I cut the star out of vinyl using the JOTS cartridge -- the words were cut out using my Cameo.  And here is what I ended up with!

This last project is something new for me! My friend Megan made a necklace using a similar technique recently. I decided to make an ornament -- I cut out the doves at 4",  assembled it, then Modge Podged it so it would hold up, and added vellum to the back.  And of course I added the year.  I plan to give this to my cousin who got married this past year!

I hope you like my Christmas projects and are inspired to pull out your "Joys of the Season" cartridge and make some of your own!

And now its Jen's turn!

Hi everyone!  "Joys of the Season" was the only Christmas cartridge I had for ages.  So it really has been my "go-to" cartridge during the holiday season.  I decided to do something special for my 8 year old daughter this year -- her Winter Break from school starts December 20th and they resume classes on January 3rd.  Because it is such a busy time of the year, she often clamors for my attention and more often than I'd like to admit she doesn't always get it.  This year I made her what I call the "12 Days of Winter Break".  I used the gift card pocket, the 12 days of Christmas numbers and the tag on the JOTS cartridge to create this fun "banner."  Each pocket has a tag with a special activity during her Winter Break.  There is one for each day of her break except Sundays.

The finished pocket size is 4" tall by 2 7/8" wide.  The tags are 4" tall by 2 1/4" wide.  The gingerbread man and woman are cut from the Gingerbread cartridge at 4" tall.  Each tag  has a different activity; the 1st day's tag reads: On the 1st day of Winter Break my Momma said to me:  "Let's bake some Christmas cookies!"

Next up is one of my all-time favorite scrapbook layouts!  Ninety percent of the cuts came from the JOTS cartridge.  Here is the link to my original post

Here is a quick gift card holder using elements from JOTS -- here is the link to the original post if you'd like more details.

I love to cut fabric with my Cricut!  Here's an appliqued onesie I created last Christmas for one of our nieces using JOTS.  And here's the link to the original post, if you'd like more info.

Do you ever have one of those projects that turns out better than you thought it would?  This is one of those!  I wasn't sure it was going to work when I started; but I love the way it turned out!  The poinsettias on this candle holder were created using the JOTS cartridge.  Here's the link to my original post with all of the details.

Thanks so much for stopping by and checking out our Market Fresh Mondaze Cartridge Showcase.  For more info on any of our projects, please visit Court at Court's Craft Corner and Jen at Musings of a Crafty Mom.

PCW Die Cut and or Stamp Challenge

Good morning crafty friends,

Welcome to another Terrific Tuesday Die Cut and or Stamp Challenge. We are so glad you stopped by! Today’s challenge is a fun one for sure! This week the designers were tasked with creating projects that had the predominant color of Copper on them….OR a Copper theme, element, etc.

The reason for the copper?  During this week (Nov. 19, 1863) President Abraham Lincoln delivered the Gettysburg Address. Of course that made me think of a penny and well pennies are “Copper” so there you have it… The reason for copper.

Let’s see what our lovely designers created for your shiny, coppery, inspiration!
