I used the beautiful Savvy Davvy Designer Paper From Quick Quotes as well as their new Vintage Alphabet – Savvy Davvy Set (SAM) and the adorable quotes are from the babies, kids & Families Itty Bitty Box Set. The top ten, the list and number border die cuts are from the Graphically Speaking Cricut Cartridge.

The List die cut comes from the Graphically Speaking Cartridge. The Journaling Block is one that I made.

Here is a close up of one of the Quick Quotes Quotes that I used. I wanted to show here how I was able to stick the vellum quote onto the paper without showing any of the adhesive! I use a very common trick of “following the letters” in the back with my adhesive pen.

Good morning crafty friends,

Thank you for stopping by today. Today’s project was made using the wonderful, August Club Q kit from Quick Quotes. Every month Quick Quotes produces some wonderful page kits and project kits. They include a variety of their beautiful designer paper and some adorable custom made die cuts as well as some super cute embellishments.

Here are August’s Club Q Kits

The above are the two, double page layouts for the kit and below is a close up of the canvas kit. Absolutely adorable!

Here is my take on the top layout.

closeup of circle and mat
Here is a close up of the circular mattes. I used my Cricut my George and Basic Shapes to cut out the circle and corresponding shadow. The flower was from the club Q kit. I simply “cut it out” of the frame it was in. I used pop dots to give a little lift and a QQ gem for the center. You can also see in this close up shot that I machine stitched the cream background paper to the green background paper.
closeup of large photo matte
Here is a close up of the large photo matte. The ribbon and the loopy border are again from the club Q kit as well as the beautiful designer paper. I did use a Martha Stewart punch to create the borders in the background.

Here is a close up of one of the large flowers in a frame die cut that is included in the kit. I simply inked it with some Midnight Confessions Chalk Ink and added a QQ gem to the center of each one.

summer title close up
Here is a close up of the “Summer” title. Again, this is from the club Q kit. The die cuts are custom, laser cuts and they pop out of the page beautifully!

dayz closeup
Here is a close up of the “DAYZ” alphas. These are from the new Vintage Alphabet Quote Sheets by QQ. These are the Cherry Truffle Vintage Alphabet Quote Sheet. They all have either quotes or journaling squares attached to them. I trimmed them all down and matted them here. I saved the beautiful quotes for another project :-)

TIP
To utilize my cardstock to the fullest. I will often times cut the “center” of the background piece out. This saves on bulk and cardstock. If you would like a step by step photo tutorial of how I do this: you can click this link: HERE. This will take you to a previous post where I explain this method in detail.

Here is a shot of the back of one of the pages to show you. When done correctly, I have a one inch “frame” and a separate 10x10 piece that I can utilize for mattes.

Challenge #45: Sailboat

Good morning, crafty friends!

In honor of Columbus setting sail on this date in 1492, the Design Team was challenged to incorporate a sailboat or sailboat inspired theme into their projects.

On the evening of August 3, 1492, Christopher Columbus departed from Palos de la Frontera, Spain, with three ships; one larger carrack, the Santa María, nicknamed Gallega (the Galician); and two smaller caravels, the Pinta (the Painted) and the Santa Clara, nicknamed Niña after her owner Juan Niño of Moguer.   During this first voyage, instead of reaching Japan as he had intended, Columbus landed in the Bahamas archipelago, at a locale he named San Salvador.

OK!  History lesson over . . . take it away, ladies!

Stacey created this sweet card with the "Just Because" Cards cartridge.
Make sure you hop over to her blog to check out all the precious details!

Jean's layout was created using the Once Upon a Princess, Wall Decor & More
and Storybook cartridges.  Don't forget to check out the details on her blog!

Maria Elena created her "Best Wishes" card using the Plantin SchoolBook cartridge.
Sail on over to her blog and check out the details!

Jen created a pirate party invitation using the Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge.
Make sure you head on over to her blog or she just might make you walk the plank!

Now it’s your turn, let’s see your creative, Cricut best! Remember our guidelines . . .

1. It must be a new project with a Cricut cut.
2. Post your project on your blog and include a link back to CookingWithCricut.com
3. And the best rule of all -- you MUST HAVE FUN!

An as always, thank you for joining us. We appreciate it so much!
