DCWV January Stackaholic Challenge

Happy Saturday crafty friends,
Today I wanted to share a card I created for the DCWV January Stackaholic Challenge. One of my goals for 2017 is to participate in the Stackaholic challenge each month.
DCWV Stackaholic Challenge Card Playtime Paper Stack
So here is what I came up with. I created this card using the DCWV Playtime Stack. I didn’t have time to do a layout and hope to be able to do one next month.  For the challenge, they offered two sketches. One for a card and one for a layout.

Here is the card sketch.

Here’s the stack I used. The Playtime Stack. The papers are a print and glitter on a Kraft base.

Here’s a closer look at the leaves that I colored with my Soft Jade Spectrum Noir Glitter Marker. You can also see how I used the black foam tape to lift up the flowers.

Here’s another angle of the leaves and flowers. You can also see one of the puffy stickers.

Here is one last look at the card. It came together really quick and easy.

I called this "unplugged" as the majority of my projects now use one of my electronic cutters...mostly my Pazzles or the Cameo or Cricut. So it is always a nice change to use only things that are "manual" or "no electricity" required.

Now head over to the DCWV blog or join them on Facebook to play along!

Hugs Card "Unplugged"

Good morning crafty friends,
It’s another Terrific Tuesday and that means it’s time for another project for my Scrapyland DT. Today I am sharing another “unplugged” card with. “unplugged” means no electricity used to create this project. All of it was created with manual dies and or punches, etc.  So here is what I came up with today.

hugs card-480
The finished card size is 4.25 x 5.5. The base is from White cardstock. I then used a red cardstock mat. Aside from the red, black and white cardstock all the rest of the paper was from the Basic Grey Urban Prairie 6x6 paper pad.

Here is a closer look at the little flowers. I used the Quickutz 2x2 Tiny flower die with my Quickutz Squeeze tool to cut these out of some of the yellow paper in the pad.. The centers are little dots of Mint Green liquid Pearls. The leaves were cut from some of the green paper in the pad with the Elizabeth Crafts Curvy Leaves Die.

I used last week’s Mojo Monday sketch as my layout inspiration for the card.

Happy Birthday Card By Melin

Hello crafty friends,
Melin here with you for another Scrapyland DT Terrific Tuesday post. Today I wanted to share a card I created for one of my niece’s upcoming birthday. So let’s get right to it.

Here’s a look at the completed card. I created the card with a base of Kraft cardstock. The finished size measures 5x6.5. I used some patterned paper from the Basic Grey Urban Prairie paper pad.

Flourished border. I used the goosebumps swirls 2x2 embossing folder. It is very easy to get a nice, deep and continuous look by using these folders with your squeeze tool. All of which you can get at Scrapyland.com.

Here’s a closer look at the font letters. The one thing I love about these fonts is that they offer a great, clean look at a very small size. The circle these letters are on are 7/8”. With all the electronic die cut machines out there, getting letters this small to cut cleanly is a challenge and especially on patterned paper.

Double Easel Card Tutorial

Hello crafty friends,
So glad you dropped by today. It’s Tuesday and that means another opportunity for me to share a creation for my Scrapyland DT. So I decided to try my hand at a double easel twisted card. The name sounds like a dive or gymnastics move…lol! Anyway, here is what I came up with.

double twisted easel card-480

panel closeup-480
Here is a closer look at one of the panels. I used the Spellbinders D-Lites Corner Flourishes to create the flourished backdrops as well as the pretty corners on the pink floral layer.

sentiment closeup-480
Here is a closer look at the sentiment. I used the Spellbinders Labels Four dies  to create the label layers. I used the Close To My Heart Family Love Stamp Set to stamp the sentiment. I fussy cut around it and adhered it to the top label. I also used pop dots to give the labels some lift to hold the panels in their place.

How To Make A Double Easel Twisted Card.

cut n fold-480
Start with a piece of paper 8” x 8”.
Create a score line at the 4” mark. Turn it and score again at 4” but only up to where the second score line intersects with the first score line.
Cut the 4” score line down to were it intersects with the first one. See above photo. Red line above is the cut line. Black line is the fold line.

card base fold1-480
Next take one of the squares and fold the upper left corner down to the crease line and in line with the outer edge. See photo above.

GEDC4703
Fold the other side like the above and you should end up with your base looking like the photo above.

double easel card base
Fold the flaps back over the center crease line and this is what your finished base will look like.
Next you will cut out two 4” x 4” squares and glue them to the front facing “triangles on each side. Then decorate as desired.

How I made the Flowers.
I used the Quickutz Squeeze and a couple of the 2x2 dies. I used the inside of the flower die

QQ Flower Die

rolled flowers s1-480
Instead of leaving them flat, I rolled them like you would a rolled or twirled flower with my quilling tool
rolling rose1

twirled flower2-480

I  put two of them together, nestling one into the other to make the flower a little bigger.
flowers close up-480
I then layered those onto the tiny flower die flowers. I layered four of those together.

Here is one last look at the card.
