Every Day in May Blog-Aversary ~ Day 22

Welcome to Day 22 of Cooking With Cricut's "Every Day in May" Blog-Aversary Cele"bear"ation!  First, a thank you to everyone who joined our party yesterday for the Cele"bear"ation Blog Hop ~ we're so glad you came to the party.  A second thank you to the wonderful Melin and the Design Team ~ ladies, you totally rocked the bear/celebration challenge.  Awesome projects!

For my project today I created a birthday card for one of my seven year-old daughter's friends.  I asked the all important question ... "So, which Disney Princess does she like best?"  The answer this time was "Jasmine."

Now, I know what you're thinking -- all those little-bitty pieces and parts!  And you're right!!

But, in spite of the struggle to get them to cut properly and then place them correctly, I think this card turned out pretty cute!  And so did twelve little girls at the party on Saturday.  It always fills my heart with joy to hear my daughter proudly say, "My Mom made that for you!"

Jasmine and the genie's lamp are from the Disney Dreams Come True cartridge.  "It's Your Day" is from George & Basic Shapes.

If you'd like paper information and cut details, please hop on over to my blog ~ Musings of a Crafty Mom.

CWC Cele”Bear”Ation Blog Hop

Good morning Crafty Friends,

Welcome to our Cele”bear”ation Blog Hop!  We’ve been partying all month long in honor of CWC’s first blog-aversary.  This is the place to start our fun hop!

Our theme for today’s party is bears and/or celebrations. As many of you may know, I started this blog as a way to force myself to use my Cricut and PC products. Most of the time it sat there and collected dust. I am truly amazed at how it has grown in one year.

There are so many talented crafters and I have met some of the most wonderful people by having a blog. It has truly been a blessing for me!

So now onto a few projects that I have made with my Cricut, Cartridges and sometimes Gypsy. I selected projects that I have made through out the year that have our “Bear” theme to them :-)

This layout was created for The Bug Magazine’s March/April 2011 edition. It features a bear and puppy. I used the DOODLECHARMS Cartridge and My GYPSY to create the bear and puppy. The Gypsy File was a give away for the magazine.

Every Day in May Blog-Aversary ~ Day 9

Welcome to Day 9 of Cooking With Cricut's Every Day in May Blog-Aversary!

This is Jen of Musings of a Crafty Mom and I am so honored to post here today.  Cooking With Cricut is having a month long Blogoversary Cele"bear"ation with postings and giveaways every day during the month of May - and each and every day  there will be some kind of celebration posted!

Today I am celebrating adoption!  I am the adoptive mother of four amazing children -- three are grown and on their own and my baby just turned seven.  Each and every year we celebrate the day their adoptions were finalized.  We call it their Adoption Anniversary -- I have a friend who is also an adoptive mother who calls it their "Gotcha Day."  It's a big deal -- there is almost always a gift involved and a special dinner -- kind of like a second birthday.

Today is my youngest's anniversary and this is the gift I made for her.  It is called a "Star Book" and it is basically a 3D card.  It was pretty easy to make and features pictures of my little one from the time she joined our family at three months to present as well as a poem called "How Do We Love You."

The cartridges used are:  George & Basic Shapes, Accent Essentials, Just Because Cards, and Mother's Day 2010.  Please check out my blog for details and a link to the Star Book instructions.

Adoption is an amazing way to build a family.  On any given day in my home state of Florida, there are approximately 850 children waiting for forever families.  They are waiting for someone to love them, waiting for a place to call home.  They come from varied backgrounds, circumstances, races and ethnicities. While some have specific medical, physical or emotional issues requiring special care, many do not. Some are part of sibling groups that want very much to stay together as part of a new family.  Adoption isn't for everybody, but if you think it might be for you and your family, I encourage you to take a closer look.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment!  Make sure you check back tomorrow and see the wonderful Graduation card Madison created!

~ Jen

Thanks so much!

Everyday in May Let's Celebrate Layout

Good morning crafty friends!
I hope you’re getting ready for another fun weekend of paper crafting! I am sure many of you have some fabulous plans for National Scrapbook Day! Be sure to include a stop here to CWC as we will be having another wonderful Everyday in May project and FREEBIE!

But for today, Jean, of www.jeanscraftycorner.blogspot.com, one of our wonderful Creative Designers has a simply sweet project for you!
026
I wanted to show how you can take dollar store items and decorate them for your party theme for less.  I started out with a yellow bag and pack of yellow plates and cups from the dollar store.
015
I then used the Birthday Cakes Cricut Cake cartridge to cut the Let's Party and the George and Basic Shapes cartridge for the flowers.  I used pink vinyl to cut all of the decorations for the cups, plates and bag.  I then used pink cardstock and cut the flowers to decorate the straws.  For the straws, you will need to enlarge the circle in the middle for the straws to fit through.
017
019
021
Be sure to head over to Jean’s Blog for complete details including cut sizes, etc!

Now for today’s Everyday in May Freebie #6

In keeping with Jean’s wonderful project theme of Birthday Celebrating, I created this super easy scrapbook page.

let's celebrate-500
Here is my layout. I used the following to complete this project:

The Blue, purple and numbered patterned papers are all from the AMAZING DCWV CELEBRATION STACK! Some of the numbers on the number paper are foiled! It really makes the layout dazzle!

ALSO the Birthday wish journaling block and the my little cupcake graphic are from this same stack! Just cut and paste!

Good afternoon Cricutlicious friends.

Thank you for coming by to visit us! Today kicks off our Everyday in May Blog-Aversary Celebration.
everydayinmaycwc-200-1 (1)
I am so excited that CookingWithCricut.com had turned one! It has been quite an interesting journey to say the least.

I began this blog simply to force myself to begin to use the Cricut and all the different cartridges I had collected. In the course of learning how to blog, I discovered….CHALLENGES! I didn’t even know such a thing existed. After being invited on to Pile It On’s Design Team, I was TOTALLY HOOKED! As you know, this now has grown into one of the most fun blogs to be challenged to use your bug and create some buggylicious projects!

The Design Team and I want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for playing along with us each week and for encouraging us to use our bugs too!

So in honor of our blog turning one, we will be showcasing a new project and post EVERYDAY in MAY! Each day various Design Team members will bring you special projects and the theme will be Celebrations!  Anything in our lives we celebrate! So look for a WIDE range of super fun projects coming your way.

We will also be having DAILY Freebies. Compliments of PaperCraftingWorld.com!

Each day we will have either a Cutting File or a Digital Stamp up for grabs. But you will have to come back each day as the files will only be available for 24 hours! That’s it..only 24 hours!

So get ready to make us a daily part of your life in May as you don’t want to miss out on our freebies.

We will also have weekly give-a-ways from other wonderful Sponsors too! So keep your eyes peeled!

So here we go…Here are today’s projects for you!

cricut celebrate bear n cupcake layout 500
Here is My Cricut Layout. This layout was completed using the following supplies:
My Cricut Expression,
George and Basic Shapes,
Simply Charmed Cartridge
Birthday Cakes Cartridge
DCWV Celebration Stack…BEAUTIFUL PAPER!
Bazzill Yellow, Orange, White, Brown and Cream Cardstock.
Colorbox Cat’s Eye Chalk Inks: Chestnut Roan, Creamy Brown, Rouge, French Blue, Warm Violet, Yellow and Tangerine.
American Crafts Fine Tip Black Pen
Signo White Gel Pen
Pebbles, Inc. Dry Decorator Chalks.
Diamond Stickles.

This little bear was one I had come up with back when it was the days of the Baby Bug and a couple of cartridges. That was the time when PC would release like only 4 cartridges a year!!! My we have come a long way!

cricut bear closeup 500
Here is a close up of the little bear and cupcake.

cricut bear closeup two 500
Here is an angled close up. I was trying to capture the pretty paper I used from DCWV. This was from their Celebration Stack and several pieces have some of the elements on them with a shiny “foil” type finish. You can see the blue shiny my birthday element behind the bear. It really adds to the project, but doesn’t photograph the best.

Now here is the “My Version” for those that use their Cricuts and or other Cutters with other software.

Here is a view of the entire layout. I created the bear, cupcake and found the font on my computer and created the candle in the title.

This is an angled view. Once again I was trying to capture how pretty the foil on the DCWV paper is. This paper also came from the Celebration Stack!

To complete my layout I used the following:
My Cutter
My Cutting Files
DCWV Celebration Stack for all the patterned paper
Bazzill Cardstock in Yellow, Orange, White, Brown and Cream.
Colorbox Cat’s Eye Chalk Inks in: Chestnut Roan, Creamy Brown, French Blue, Warm Violet, Blue Iris and Tangerine.
Dry Decorator Chalks
American Crafts Black Fine Tip Pen
Signo White Gel Pen
Diamond Stickles.

So to kick off our “FREEBIES” Today I am giving away the little bear and cupcake cutting files.
bear closeup-200

Day 11–25 Days of Cricut(Crafting) Holiday Fun, FREE Files

Good morning everyone and happy SATURDAY!  Boy we are in FULL Swing with the holidays!

Our little town is having it’s Christmas parade today, so we are going to head out and watch it….yes, I realize many of you live in an area where a parade is out of the question right now :-) Having been born and raised in a northern state, seeing Santa walking down the street, ringing his bell….and sweating profusely…lol...wasn’t part of my idea for Holiday fun….but you get used to your surroundings!
Okay, enough rambling, on to today’s projects.

Today Sheryl (Beanie) from our design team sent me a plethora of holiday stuff she has been working on….Talk about a little elf, bug-juiced on Cricky-roids….okay, my made up name for steroids….the Cricut version…lol…sorry starting to ramble again!

Anyway, here are some fabby projects to feast your eyes!

Some adorable cards featuring the print n’ cut technique from Make The Cut.

And this scalloped – Poinsettia tag. You can visit Beanie’s Blog to see more of her wonderful creations.

Now for my project for today
IMG_0672
I created these tags for a tag swap that I was a part of. I have never done anything like this before,
so I was pretty excited. I can’t wait to see what tags I get back Smile
tags for crop
tag closeup1
Here is a close up of the tag. The cartridges I used:
  • The Sentimentals Cartridge for the tag
  • I did use my Gypsy to “hide” the holes in the tags
  • The Lacey Labels Cartridge for the smaller snowflakes
  • The Joys of The Season Cartridge for the large snowflake
  • I used George and Basic Shapes Cartridge to cut the 2 circles at the top.
  • I used some very old Basic Grey patterned paper for the top layer of the tag.
  • I found the angel image on the net.
  • The little frame around the image was just some cardstock that I punched at the top and bottom with an EK Success border punch.
  • I inked all the pieces with my trusty Chestnut Roan Chalk Ink and the snowflakes were also lightly inked with Azurite Chalk Ink.
  • I glued the circles down and then punched a hole at once and through all the layers with my Crop-I-Dile.
  • Lastly I added ribbon at the top and used the Diamond and Champagne Stickles to glitz it up just a bit.
closeup of tag2
So now for today’s FREE files. I didn’t get a chance to make a sample tag from the files I created, but here is a picture of what the files look like.
rejoice tag by melin-500
Here is the link to the FREE cutting files. This includes the tag, the “picture frame” and the two types of snowflakes.

Here is the link to the rejoice pdf digi stamp

Here is the link to the picture. I think it is okay to share as I found it on the net. I wish I could give you the link, I downloaded a whole bunch of vintage clipart last year…oh gosh actually it was two Christmas's ago…man where is the time going! For some cards I had made. If anyone happens to know of the place, please let me know. I am all about giving credit where credit is due.  But I do know these images are really, really old, so I don’t even know if a copyright exists on them anymore.

As always, Thank you SO MUCH for taking your time to be a part of our blog. We appreciate you stopping by and sharing in our work. Hopefully you are inspired and blessed! Have a Cricutliciously Crafty Weekend!
