Guest Designer Tuesday!

Welcome to Guest Designer Tuesday
at Cooking With Cricut!

Our special Guest Designer this week is none other than Rebecca -- a/k/a The Crafting Misfit.  Although, after you see these projects, I think you'll agree with me that she is no misfit!  Rebecca is showcasing the Cricut Celebrations cartridge today.  So take it away, Rebecca!!

I want to start my post by saying --  thank you so much to the team at Cooking With Cricut for asking me to do this. I was SO EXCITED when I was contacted by them! I have been watching the challenges on this blog for months and participate often because I love them! It is great to be a part of this and I feel very honored that I was asked to be a Guest Designer!  CWC's Design Team is incredible and I get so much inspiration from their work!

Celebrations was one of my first cartridges! My mother bought me my first Cricut for Christmas 2009 and gave me two cartridges -- Celebrations and Stretch Your Imagination.    My hubby bought me an Expression for Christmas 2010. I had wanted a Cricut for a couple of years before getting one so I was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited! Then I couldn't live without having a Gypsy; so for Christmas 2010 mom got me that. (My mother is great at gift giving!)  My life hasn't been the same ;). Sometimes I get so bogged down in what is new that I forget my oldies but goodies. So when CWC contacted me about doing this I thought I would explore a forgotten cartridge on my Gypsy.

Crafting has quickly become my passion. I am a Kindergarten teacher and mother of two, so my machines get plenty of use! I joined the blogging world in January 2011 and have found that to be an addiction that I love to feed. I look forward to reading comments from my followers and find I need to check those as often as I check Facebook (which is A LOT). In the summer I spend most of my time enjoying my kids and husband. We try to go to the ocean at least once a week and we camp as often as we can. Camping is an acquired taste that I am still working on but this summer it is far better than last. As a kid I loved it, but now I love real beds and A/C. The only bad thing about camping is my Cricut doesn't come . . . yet.

For my project I created some gift bags with matching tags and a card.  If you like what you see I would love to have you visit my blog!

Thanks again, Rebecca,  for your continued support of Cooking With Cricut -- we love seeing what you cook up each week!

Please take the time to go over to Rebecca's blog and show her some crafting "love!" See you back here tomorrow for our weekly challenge.  You won't want to miss it!

Celebrations Showcase

Good morning everyone,
It certainly has been a while since I have posted. I do apologize for my absence. I had computer problems...major and then had a very busy schedule and had to try and play catch up. But I wanted to get right back into the swing of things. I am a design team member over at Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog. I just became the new Fantabulous Girl Friday over there. This means each week I will be posting a segment exploring our Cartridges, Cutting files and More. So here is this week's first Cartridge. The honors go to.....Ms. Celebrations Cartridge herself!
Most of us have her in our collection of bug juice and she has been around for quite some time.
So I figured I would dust her off and take a closer look at her :-)

Birthday Girl Layout
Here is a layout I made using Ms. Celebrations herself. This is along the lines of what you would expect from this great cartridge. I made ALL the elements using just the Celebrations Cartridge. The scalloped yellow background was cut using the "Fit to page" button and scalloped sqaure found on page 122. The cupcake, balloons, presents and girl title also came from this wonderful cartridge.

Now let's think outside Ms. Celebration's box a bit. Here are a few projects and ideas I came up with that weren't necesarily balloons, gifts, candles and cakes.

Prayer Booklet
I used my Gypsy and my Celebrations Cricut Cartridge to create the "pages" of the book. The inside pages measure approximately, 2.75" wide by 3.55" high.
The flowers and the "flourishes" on both of these pages were also created using the Celebrations cartridge. The flowers are from page 121 and the "flourishes" are from page 104.
You can download the free journaling and scripture tags pdf file at the bottom of this post.

SWEET BOY LAYOUT
Here is a layout I made using the Celebrations cartridge. ALL the die cuts are from Ms. Celebrations...Yep that's right...ALL.
Aside from a few sentiments, like the "Boy" title, this cartridge doesn't have a font. So I used numbers to create the title "Sweet". The "S" is the curly number 8. I welded the three 3's together for the w, e and e. The t is from the number "4". After the Cricut was finished cutting my Gypsy file, I still needed to trim part of the 8 away as well as part of the number "4" to achieve the finished "Sweet" title.
Now about this lamb....
He is totally from the Celebrations cartridge. Can you get your bug juice going and figure him out? If not, that's okay, be sure to sign up for my email newsletter. I will be sending one out Sunday late afternoon-evening and will have the full cut instructions link on it :-)

Lastly, How about some 3 dimensional flowers.
I made these beauties using my Celebrations cartridge and my Gypsy. Which by the way, if you don't have a Gypsy, I think you could still make them.
I would show you the project these are going on....but then I would have to make you an offer you couldn't refuse....lol! But if you come back on Monday, then I will give you the skinny on these cute "fringey" flowers and the Gypsy file too!
Be sure to visit back tomorrow as I will be sharing a project from one of our new DT members in celebration of Breast Cancer Awareness.

Cupcake Box-Cricut and Template

Hello everyone,

Here is a cute Cupcake Box project I made. using the following items:

Cupcake Box: Cutting File (WPC, GSD, SVG)
Cricut Cartridges: Mini Monograms and Celebrations
MS Border Punch: Cupcake Border
EK Success Punch: Daisy Border

View of Top.

Side View 2

I used the Mini Monograms cartridge to cut out the scallop frame. I cut out a piece of transparency and sandwhiched it between the scallop and the top of the box. That way when you open the box, you don't see the mechanics on the inside.

I used the Celebrations Cartridge to cut out the tag, the word Celebrate and the cupcake. I inked the cupcake pieces with Lime Pastel, Orchid Pastel and Amber Clay Chalk Inks.

I used the MS Cupcake border punch and the EK Success Daisy border punch to create the borders around the box.

Finally, I used some Lavendar Liquid Pearls and some StarDust Stickles to create the pearl drops and the glittery effect on the letters of Celebrate and the frosting of the cupcake.

Sorry, FREE file no longer available. Please visit PCW for all our very reasonably priced cutting files and digital printable stamps.
