Coloring Dew Drops With VIDEO & FREE SVG

Hello crafty friends,
Today it's my turn to share a project over at the Robin's Nest Blog. Here is what I created!

My card is a finished A2 size. It is 4.25 x 11, scored at 5.5 to make it a top folding card. I cut a piece of Emerald Green Bazzil Bling cardstock for a mat.

I then used my Pazzles Craft Cutter to create my floral inlay pattern. I cut the mat out and then laid it onto a matching white piece of cardstock and used my pencil to draw the outline of the flowers. I then used my Spectrum Noir Water Color Pencils to color the flowers. I purposely colored them beyond the “line” as I knew I was going to be adding foam tape for dimension. I didn’t want the top flower cuts to cause the color underneath to be inconsistent with the pattern.

I then used an embossing folder to add the soft swirls you see in the background. To really make the flowers stand out, I added a larger sequins to the center and then used 3 dew drops for the centers. I wanted them to match the color of the flowers as closely as possible. So I colored them!

marker color
Here’s a look at the dew drop that I colored with my blue violet Copic marker. I started with a clear dew drop and then colored it. It isn’t a perfectly smooth finish, but you can wait for the marker to dry and then dab here and there to get a more fully colored look.

marker yellow
Here’s a look at the yellow version.  I also did a third one with an orange marker. I love that this allows me to really match the dew drop to my project.

sentiment
I finished off the card by adding a sentiment I created on my computer and cut out with my scallop stitched oval die cut. I then added a few small drops of some Nuvo Crystal drops to add just a bit more to the card.

Here's a photo of the second card. I created this one on the video.
