Today I am sharing over at the Dies R Us blog. This is second project as a DRU girl. Here is what I came up with.
My card is an A2 size card. I started with a white cardstock base. I then cut a piece of black cardstock for the mat. I embossed the mat.
The focal point of my card are these adorable flowers that I created. I used the Cheapo Cross Die to make them. Here's how:
CROSS FLOWER TUTORIAL
I started by cutting the Cross Die Cut out of some white cardstock. Here you can see how I initially cut the die apart. I cut it out several times for all the layers I would need.
Next, I used the three similar shaped points and adhered them to a little circle. I used 5 of them to create one layer.
I then used 5 more and glued them to the same circle. I staggered them between the "petals" of the first layer.
I repeated this process for a third layer. I then gently curled the layers to give them a little shape. I then used some of the Pink cat's eye pigment ink to brush some pink onto the petals to give them a soft color tint. For my finished flowers I did end up trimming off the little points at the tips of the petals, but here you can see how the "flower" would look with them on.
I also added a pearl and some Icicle stickles to finish the centers of the flowers. I used the long piece of the die cut for the leaves. I inked them with some of the Pistachio cat's eye pigment ink pad. I then mounted the flowers on a mat using my rectangle scalloped stitch die. I cut it out of white and then cut a corresponding mat in yellow cardstock.
Here's a closer look at the little sentiment I created. I added a pearl accent for a little extra pizzazz.
Here's a view of the embossed mat. It is very subtle but very nice. I also used some patterned paper from the BoBunny Faith pad. I added a border of green cardstock to break it up and wrapped that with some ribbon.
Here's a closer look at the pretty pink plaid bow to finish off my card.
Here is one last look at my completed card. I thought it turned out quite pretty. I always love when I can get more than one use or the obvious use out of a die.
