Hello crafty friends,
Welcome to Day 1 of my 25 Days of Christmas and Year ‘Round Crafting. This is the fourth year I have done this event. Each year has been different and this year is no exception. Last year I had over 30 designers help me showcase some wonderful and amazing projects. As with everything in life, there are changes, challenges and growth. This year has been quite a challenging year for me. Both “personally and professionally”. As a result, I did not have the time or “strength” to undertake the task of coordinating a massive event like last year….so….this year….it’s just me. So here is what I can commit to you my fellow crafters. I will TRY my best to get a post up each and every day. “TRY” being the operative word. I will post sometime around 12:30pm-1pm eastern time each day. I know that “seems” kind of late, but…there is a reason for this….which leads me to:
I will do my best to offer you something “free” each day. I can make no promises that this will ABSOLUTELY happen, but I will sincerely try. Last year, I received a lot of emails about “WHY” the freebies are only 24 hours. I also received complaints that changing them out when the posts went live in the morning wouldn’t give those who visit during work hours in other parts of the country and or world a chance to grab them before they were gone. So the posting later helps to maybe give everyone a chance to get them. As to the “why”…quite simply, I need to keep things organized and have a system to give you my readers an opportunity to look forward to something new.
Each day will be something different. As a crafter I try to use all my tools. So I may showcase a project using SVG cut files, Digital Stamps, Traditional Dies and or My Cricut. So you will have to just make the trip over here each day to see what I have. Because this event is low key this year…I did NOT secure sponsors to give away a bunch of great prizes. I will be giving away a few things along the way, so you will need to be a “Follower” of my blog and you will need to leave a comment. I will pick a random comment for some of the prizes and will check to make sure you are a follower. Asking you to follow me and leave a comment to win something really is small to ask….I think.
So now that I have given you a sense of how this event will work….let’s get to today’s project
Here is my card. Simple and not too flashy. I started with some great DCWV Die Cuts With A View Christmas and Winter Value Stack Paper. I used Kraft as my base and then cut some mats in plain black. I used today’s free cut file and some cut files from the Deco Emblems CF set from PaperCraftingWorld.com. I machine stitched on two of the layers of mats for just a little extra touch.
Here is a closer look at the pretty poinsettia. I cut it out and then inked the edges with some Cranberry Ink. I then used some Burgundy stickles to add some touches of glitter here and there. For the center of the flower and around the points of some of the elements, I used some Champagne Stickles. I really like the look of the Champagne over just regular gold. It has a few extra flakes of iridescent which makes it so much prettier…to me anyway
Here is one last side view. I used some foam tape to give the poinsettia a little lift as well as the sentiment.

ReplyDeleteOh Melin, this card is stunning! I love the poinsettia, but it is the sentiment that I am loving as well as that frame. I know life is so challenging and I'm in awe that you are doing this all yourself. I was honored last year to be a designer for you. You rock lady!
