Good evening crafty friends,
I wanted to share a card I made for Yolie, Celeste and Gaby’s Link Up For Pink linking party that they have been hosting for the last couple of weeks.
I really had the best of intentions. I wanted to do some projects and really help promote their endeavor….but alas…things just didn’t go the way I wanted. :-(
Well here’s the card I created.
I used a cute little bear n’ cupcake digital stamp from PaperCraftingWorld.com.
The cardstock was Bazzill cardstock. The Patterned Paper and ribbon was from Quick Quotes.
Here is the Layout that I wanted to create.
You see for this layout and in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness, I decided to cut and donate my hair. I chose to donate it to “Beautiful Lengths”. While I love the Locks of Love foundation, the Beautiful Lengths initiative focuses on providing wigs for women.
So, I went to my son’s friend’s girlfriend and she cut my hair.
Here I am on the “chopping block” lol.
She had to braid it. I told her to take as much as she needed. I wanted to make sure she had more than enough and that it wouldn’t get “disqualified”.
And then she cut the braid.
Here I am holding “the braid”. Karissa is her name and she is such a sweet girl!
Here it is once I got it home. It was just a bit over 12". Of course as a paper junkie, you clearly see how I measured 12"...ROFL!
I guess they need around 6 to 7 of these to create one wig….WOW!
Here are a couple of shots of the new “du” in progress.
Can you see my sweet daughter in the photo below in the mirror taking my picture :-) She was my “moral support” and “beauty advisor” lol!
So last but not least, here is a picture of me with my new hairstyle. It has taken some getting used to, but it is a nice change.
So here is the “mock up” of the layout I had intended to do once again. Like I said before, It is still just a “mock up”. Maybe some day soon I can actually create it.
I am waiting to get my “card” in the mail. They stated that when we send our pony, if we supply our name and address, they will send us a card back acknowledging receipt of the pony. So as soon as I get my card, I may do the layout or maybe even just a mini album.
Anyway, you can’t see on the mock up too well, but on the lower right corner of the left page I have the following scripture:
Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.”
Acts 3:6
As I contemplated doing this, that particular scripture kept coming to my mind. I truly don’t have the financial resources to pour into such a worthy cause, but I did have a resource…my hair.
This scripture also came to my mind a lot:
Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, When it is in the power of your hand to do so.
Proverbs 3:27
So as a humble servant of the most high God….Yeshua Ha Mashiach, I decided the best thing I could offer was my hair. So when I sent my hair in, I took a moment to pray over it. I asked the Lord to direct my hair to the woman whom He wanted to bless and not just with a wig but with COMPLETE HEALING! So I pray that as the person who is blessed with the “covering” of that particular hair piece is given an opportunity to help get her through this season of her life, that she would feel the power and love of our gracious and merciful Lord. That through His finished work on the cross, she would be given healing, complete and absolute!
As a Christian….A Crossed Over Hebrew, I absolutely and firmly believe that He is not only able but more than willing to provide us with so great a blessing.
So in closing, while my project sits unfinished…the Hand of God is moving through all our lives…through trials, blessings and everything in-between. Please take a moment to give Him honor and glory for it all!!!
So my card also fits into a couple of challenges:

Many blessings,

Oh gosh girls....You sure know how to make a girl feel special :-) @ Gaby....Love u too Amiga! What a wonderful blog buddy u have been!
ReplyDelete@ Nita! Oh how sweet that your precious girl has done the same! My daughter did it once too! When she was around 10.
@ Jani...Thank you for your kind words! I am believing like you, that when "she" gets her wig, that she will just "know" there is something so special happening!
@ Yolie...I love that you SIL does it too! One of the criteria is that your hair has to be less than 5% grey, so I figure, I can maybe do it one more time before....AGE...finally catches up and tips the "grey" scale the other way...lol! Thank you for your kindness and encouragement! I pray many Blessings to you and Gaby and Celeste for such a WONDERFUL event!
That is great, u look gorgeous darlin'!!!
