DCWV Preppy Princess and SVG Healed Layout

Happy hump day crafty friends!
Hope your week is going well and you are getting things done! Today I wanted to share a special layout I did. This month is breast cancer awareness and because of that, light is shed on the overall struggle of many cancer patients. As I was reading through my Facebook feed, someone had shared a clip from a news article about these three beautiful girls fighting cancer. While not breast cancer, their photo has gone viral and is such a beautiful and poignant picture.

Here’s the picture. This photograph was taken by  Scantling Photography. The news article went on to say that these three precious angels are currently in remission. I was so moved by this picture as many were. I found Scantling Photography on Facebook and sent them a message asking for permission to use this photo and create a Scrapbook Layout. As I looked at this photo, I kept thinking about the verse in Jeremiah…Heal me and I shall be healed…save me and I shall be saved. So when the wonderful folks at Scantling photography gave me permission to use the photo for a layout, I went to work.  Here is what I came up with.

Here’s a look at my completed layout. All the patterned papers came from the DCWV Preppy Princess Stack. I started with a kraft cardstock base and then layered some of the beautiful patterned papers onto that. I created the various cut files in my Pazzles software. I inked the edges of the papers with my Saddle ink pad as I wanted to give the overall look of the page a shabby-chic/vintage feel. I was inspired to go this way because of the outfits the girls were wearing.

Here’s a closer look at the tag I created. It is the first part of the verse. I inked the edges added a few charcoal gems to each side of it.

For the upper left corner, I created some visual interest by folding down the paper and adding in a doily and a flower.

Here is a closer look at one of the brackets I added. I again, inked everything with my saddle ink pad to give them all a vintage look. I added some cream pearls to the brackets and used some foam tape to give the bracket a little lift off the paper.

Here is a closer look at the flowers.  I used papers from the same stack to cut out all the flower layers. It is hard to see that the papers used for the flowers have a subtle pattern to them, but they do. Next I wanted to use the rhinestone type centers in the cream flowers, but I didn’t want a plain rhinestone look, so I used my ShinHan touch twin  Tender Pink Marker, to color in the dips and give them a soft pink look. I then used a charcoal gem from my stash for the center. For the center of the pink flowers I used a cream pearl gem from my stash.

Here is a closer look at the word healed. I created the cut file in my Pazzles Inspiration software. I cut it out three times in kraft cardstock. I wanted it to be thick and sturdy. I layered all three layers onto each other. I glued them together with my liquid glass so they would be completely glued together. I then used my versa mark ink pad and inked it entirely. I then added some gold embossing powder onto it and heat set it.

Here is a closer look at the bottom of the rest of the verse and a closer look at the embossed title.

And one last look at the entire layout. I just love how this turned out. I hope it will inspire you to think about and maybe say a quick prayer for all those who are struggling with cancer, any type of cancer and or other health issues. I am so grateful to hear that these precious girls are in remission. I pray that they will each continue to thrive and be in good health.

You Are Sunshine For My Soul Pazzles Print N' Cut Card

sunshine for my soul card-490
Happy Tuesday crafty friends,
Yesterday I shared a card with you where I used the InVue project folder Treasured Friendship My design team assignment was to create two cards using the same project folder. First, here is the card from yesterday. CLICK HERE for details.

Now onto today’s card. I used the same project folder but just picked a few of the different options.  For this version, I kept the card the same orientation as it is originally, which is more of a landscape position. I cut my base again out of kraft cardstock and then used some white and some patterned paper from the Close to my heart brushed paper collection. I then cut one of the background modifiers, from pink cardstock. The circle cuts for this background modifier give it a nice clean visual interest for the background.

Then I chose the print n cut watercolor flowers from the themed images sub folder in the modifiers section. With the new InVue software, print and cut is a snap. I also chose to make the sentiment a print and cut. I simply added the colors I wanted to the sentiment and created a cut box around it. After printing the sentiment and flowers on my printer, I cut them out and added them to my card. I then finished off the card by adding a border of white and more brushed patterned papers along with some ribbon and gems. Super easy and great results!
