Melin & Jen Are Monkeying Around!

It's just another Monkey Monday . . . no Cartridge Showcase today . . . just Melin and Jen monkeying around!  We decided to collaborate and bring you some fun projects with a "monkey" twist.  One of Jen's nephews just turned one and his mommy always calls him her" little monkey."  So a monkey party was an obvious choice!

Did you know that there are monkeys on 17 different Cricut cartridges?  So many to choose from . . .
  • Animal Kingdom, pg. 45 and 49
  • Birthday Bash, pg. 36
  • Birthday Cakes, pg. 45
  • Create-A-Critter, pg. 46
  • Creative Memories - Storks Delivery, pg. 64
  • Disney's Dreams Come True, pg. 66
  • Everyday Paper Dolls, pg. 75
  • Imagine - Buccaneer, pg. 10
  • Life's A Party, pg. 36, 46 and 56
  • Lite - B is for Boy
  • Lite - Carousel
  • Lite - Sugar & Spice
  • Nate's ABCs, pg. 57
  • New Arrival, pg. 56
  • Paisley, pg. 30, 31 and 32
  • Sweethearts, pg. 43
  • ZooBalloo, pg. 37
Jen used monkeys from Create-A-Critter, New Arrival and ZooBalloo for her banner, party decorations and cake.

The pennant and pennant mat were cut using the Girl's Make-Up Party cartridge
the text is from Cake Basics, the monkey on the left is from ZooBalloo
and the monkey on the right is from New Arrival.

These little monkeys and vines are from the Create-A-Critter cartridge.

Jen used her Cricut Cake to cut the fondant decorations for the cake.
The monkey on the left and the  palm tree are from Create-A-Critter.
The monkey on the right, grass, vines and party hats are from ZooBalloo.
The text was cut using the Mickey Font cartridge.

Isn't this little monkey "smash" cake the cutest thing ever!!!
The text was cut using the Mickey Font cartridge
and the stars are from Plantin SchoolBook.

For more details on sizes and the papers Jen used visit her blog.

Melin created this layout using the sweet little monkeys from the Sweethearts cartridge. She used the "flip" feature on her Expression to create the mirror images.

Here is a close up of the cute little title.

Melin created this adorable birthday card using the Birthday Bash Cartridge. She also used her Gypsy to "weld" the face pieces together.  The smaller the "Cricut" faces, the less appealing they are to Melin, so she will use her Gypsy to "hide contours" and add her own eyes and nose. Just find an oval or circle on the same cartridge you are using and re-size it make your eyes and nose fit your face....easy peasy!

Last but not least, Melin created this card using the Paisley Cartridge. She also used her Gypsy to "Hide Contours" for all the monkey's body pieces and face. She used a couple of EK Scallop punches and a circle punch to add the sentiment.

Thank you so much for taking some of you crafty time to join us today! Be sure to do a little "Monkeying Around" yourself and create, create, create!  Join us tomorrow as we have another great post with more inspiration from our PCW girls!!!

Day #18- Every Day in May Blog-Aversary

Welcome to Day 18 of Cooking With Cricut's Every Day in May Blog-Aversary!

Hi! . . .  This is Madison from Funky Cards!  As you may know by now, Cooking With Cricut is having a month long Blogoversary Cele"bear"ation with postings and giveaways every day during the month of May - and each and every day there will be some kind of celebration posted.

Don't forget, this Saturday, May 21st is our Cele"bear"ation Blog Hop, so mark your calendars and come hop with us!

My celebration card is a wedding card that I made for a family friend.  The bride and groom were cut at 3.5" from the Sweethearts Cricut cartridge.  The sentiment was computer generated.  The glitter card stock adds to the formal look.

Thanks for stopping by.  Be sure to come back tomorrow to see what Stacey has cooked up for you!

Love Layout With Gypsy

Good morning crafting friends,

I am posting this project as I was the Guest Designer at The Bug Bytes Blog.
Be sure to head over there and leave a comment on my post. I will select one random commenter to get a cutting file or digital stamp of their choice. You can click HERE to go directly to that post!
My project today was completed using the following cartridges:
Bloom
Love Struck 2010
Sweethearts
Accent Essentials
I also used my Gypsy.

Here is a picture of the complete layout.

I used my Gypsy to cut the heart just the right size.
I used my Gypsy and Bloom to cut out the Medallion.
I used my Gypsy and Sweethearts to weld and cut out the love with the flourish.
I used my Gypsy and Accent Essentials for the Scalloped Border Strip.
I used my Gypsy with the Bloom cartridge to create the rose petals. I welded one of the images on the bloom cartridge into a triangle shaped petal.

Here is the Keys used to find the “petal” in its singular form.
To create the rose, I simply staggered and layered the petals. I did use some Glimmer Mist to add some shimmer to them as well as make the paper more pliable. This is so that you can shape the petals.

Picked For You Cricut Card

Good morning Crafters,
Here is my PIO (pile it on challenge blog) DT submission for challenge #27. We used images from the Character Cafe. They are also sponsoring the challenge this week so please stop over there and check them out. I used the Sweethearts cartridge to cut out the cute little flowers. I cut them at 1.25". I used a slightly used mat. So it was sticky enough to hold but not too sticky that the flowers tore when getting them off :-).
So here are the challenges for this project:
PIO Holiday Colors for a NON holiday card (Christmas colors)
All Sorts - Heart
Crazy 4 Challenges - Red, Black & White
Speedy The Cat - Punches ( Photo corners are an EK punch)
Digi Doodleshop - Texture
Shabby Tea Room - Embossing
Card Patterns - Card Sketch

So needless to say, I had to hop over to random dot org and get a winner! The winner was.... Lucky #32.....Suzi Q. YEAH SUZI!

Suziq commented:
"God has definitely given you a great gift! How adorable! I love this layout. I believe those amazing penguins came from the Preserves cart. I found your site last month and became a follower. Thank you for creating such a great site to inspire us with your designs and sharing your faith".
Alright darling Suzi....I need to hear from you. Please email me at: melin (at) scrapbookeden (dot) com with your info so I can mail this layout to you!

Thank you to everyone who entered. I am going to have to roll up my sleeves and come up with a new challenge! Please stay tuned!

Happy Crafting....Melin
