Cricut Showcase: Pooh And Friends

Hello Everyone!  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and a great time celebrating Father's Day.  It is Monday again, and that means another Cricut Cartridge Showcase.  And have we got a fabulous showcase for you.  Today, Evelyn is bringing you some fabulous projects.  Evelyn is one of the outstanding Design Team members here at Cooking With Cricut / Paper Crafting World.  Evelyn has a wonderful eye for design and detail.  And when you visit her blog you will see some of the most fantastic scrapbook layouts.  They are real treasures.  Now, take a look at this wonderful showcase.  You will so glad you did!

Hi!  This is Evelyn from My Little Craft Blog.  The cartridge I’m showcasing is an oldie but goodie, Pooh and Friends, and I have found that it’s a surprisingly versatile cartridge.

This is a great cartridge for creating scenes.  You can see some great scenes that Jennifer made when she showcased this same cartridge last year:  http://www.cookingwithcricut.com/2011/08/monday-showcase-pooh-friends.html

You might think that all the cuts on this cartridge would be babyish, but many are beautiful, exquisite, even.  I’m not going to show you the obvious cuts on this cartridge; instead I’m going to show you what made me need to buy it – the icons!

There are lots of themes included on this cartridge, and you can bundle the cuts together on your project or use them separately.  For example, there are TEN HATS!  There are four birthday-themed cuts: a birthday hat, cake, present, and balloon.  There’s a beautiful snowflake and a Pooh snowman for winter.  For spring, there is an umbrella, a turtle, a worm, a kite, and rain clouds.  Summer cuts include a blazing sun, lightning, grass, a flower in a pot, two flower bouquets, a bee and beehive.  The fall cuts include pumpkins, apple basket, leaves, and a signpost.  There are two very nice trees that you could dress up for any of the seasons.  You can use the sailboat, kite, moon and stars, and book for a baby theme.  If you’re a gardener, you can use the wheelbarrow, watering can, vegetables, signs, and fences.

Here are the projects I made with the Pooh and Friends cartridge:

This is a page for birthday-themed CD mini-album I made for a swap.  Isn’t the present lovely?

I made this Hello card using the flower frame and the butterfly.

Here is the bee and beehive.  The sentiment is from the Go Green stamp set by Pink by Design.

I used one of the bouquets and the wooden frame for this scrapbook page.

These 3 x 3 cards were made using the snowflake and snowflake frame.  Gorgeous, aren’t they?

This is the wheelbarrow and tomatoes.

Here are a few more of the icons.  I cut them at about 1.8 inches to decorate the front of these matchbook notepads.

Finally, I made a fall-themed scrapbook page using several more of the icons.

The main images have the base cut, up to four layers, a shadow and a blackout.  The icons are generally made of two layers, although you may want to cut some parts twice using different colors.  There are also shadows for all the icons.  The silhouettes of the icons are also included on square and circle bases.

Each page of the handbook contains two cuts, the main image and the icon.  One thing I really like is that there are pictures showing you exactly what the two images should look like when you make them.  You don't have to guess like you do with the pictures in some handbooks.

So, that’s Pooh and Friends!  I hope you enjoyed my cartridge exploration.  I sure did!
Evelyn

Challenge #52: The Colors of Autumn

Happy Wednesday and welcome to challenge day at Cooking With Cricut!  The Design Team was challenged to use the colors of autumn in their projects this week -- red, orange, yellow, brown, and/or green.  With the offical start of autumn coming up on Thursday, I am certain that cooler weather and beautiful leaves are on their way for some of you out there!  However, here in sunny Florida it is still hot and muggy, with the occasional cool morning.  Happy Fall, y'all!

This is Stacey's last Design Team Project.  We wish her well ~
she will be missed!  Stacey used the Cricut Lite Bloom cartridge.
Make sure you check out her blog for the details on this lovely card.

Madison used Kate's ABCs cartridge for this super cute
birthday card.  Check out all the details on her blog.

Gaby used the Christmas and Pooh & Friends cartridges for her Fall sign.
Hop on over to her blog for the recipe!

Jen used the Create-A-Critter cartridge for her Fall wreath.
Check out her blog for the details!

Melin used the Elegant Edges and Cake Basics Cartridges to create this layout.

Here is a close up of the Cricut cuts. The border and Circles are from Elegant Edges.
The Butterfly, inner circles and leafy flourishes are from Cake Basics.
The Designer Paper is from Quick Quotes Khaki Collection
The Red Shimmery Sheer Ribbon is also from Quick Quotes as well as the quote below. The quote is from their Itty Bitty Quote Box: Babies, Kids and Family.
I inked the edges of most of the elements with either the Midnight Confessions or Amaretto Powder Puff Chalk Inks by QQ.
Lastly I used some Green, Goldenrod White and Brown Bazzill Cardstock and some Cinnamon and Red Stickles.

Now it's your turn!  Link up your Autumn Colors project . . . Here are a few guidelines:

* Must follow the challenge topic.
* Must be a new project for this challenge…please no back dated posts.
* Must have a link back to this post on your blog.

Thank you SO MUCH for joining us once again! We appreciate it so much!  Have a wonderfully crafty day.

Monday Showcase: Pooh & Friends

Good morning and welcome to Cooking With Cricut's Cartridge Showcase. Each Monday a member of our Design Team will feature a Cricut cartridge of their choice and projects they've made with that cartridge. We hope you'll be inspired to pull out your cartridges and find new ways to use them!

Hi!  This is Chef Jen and I'd like to share with you some projects I've made using the Pooh & Friends Cricut cartridge.  Did you know that August 21st is Winnie the Pooh's birthday?  Yep, my favorite bear turned 90 years old yesterday!  You will often see Pooh's birth date listed as October 14, 1926 --- the date of the first printing of the book "Winnie-the-Pooh".    It is a fact (as presented in the book "House at Pooh Corner") that Winnie-the-Pooh is one year younger than Christopher Robin.  Pooh was given to Christopher Robin Milne on August 21, 1921 on the occasion of his first birthday. Therefore, Pooh's real birthday is August 21.

Pooh and his pals have been favorites of mine since I was very young.  I've even managed to pass that love on to my daughters.  My youngest's nursery was decorated in classic Pooh and we used Pooh decorations for my older daughter's baby shower!

My first project is a birthday card.  My card base is an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of white card stock folded in half.  The red mat measures 8" x 5".  The patterned birthday paper is cut at 7 1/2" x 4 1/2" and is by American Traditional Designs, Celebrate Collection - Celebrate Words.  All other papers came from my scrap stash.

Here's the recipe:
  • Pooh & Friends cartridge -- Pooh cut at 4 3/4" tall; Piglet cut at 4 1/4" tall; birthday hat cut at 1 3/4" tall.
  • Create-A-Critter cartridge -- Happy Birthday cut at 4 1/2" wide; cupcake cut at 1 1/2" tall.
I snipped Piglet's arms away from his body to enable him to "hold" the cupcake.  The Disney cartridges are notorious for their small pieces and intricate cuts.    Here are a few tips to make your experience less frustrating -- make sure your mat is sticky, your blade is sharp and don't use textured papers.  I cut Pooh's body (golden color) no less than four times before I achieved one that wasn't ripped -- Piglet's face only took three tries.  (I believe my last new blade is a dud!  Time for a trip to Michael's.)

Here are a few more projects I've done in the past using the Pooh & Friends and Pooh Font (baby Pooh and his pals are on Pooh Font) cartridges.  The link to the post on my blog is beneath each photo, if you'd like project details.
