Cartridge Showcase: Mini Monsters

Today Chef Kemma will be featuring projects created with the Mini Monsters Cricut cartridge.  You can take your Halloween crafts from scary to silly with this cartridge. Mini Monsters features layered monsters, ghosts, pumpkins, and other images for your Halloween crafts plus cards, phrases, and 3-D objects you’ll love.  It includes: Layer 1, Layer 2, Card, Phrase, Phrase Shadow, and Base Shadow creative features.  This cute cartridge also has a coordinating Cuttlebug folder set.

So without further ado . . . here's Kemma!

Hello everyone!!  I have really enjoyed this cartridge and have already made several projects with it.  First up, a simple Halloween card with just the shape and shadow cut.  I decided to make my own face with some stamps I had.

And this is a sweet little card that I made for Sean, I forgot to take a photo to show where the monster opens up!  Isn't he just fun?

Don't have a gypsy and can't do the welding to make shaped cards?  You are in luck with this cartridge -- many of the monsters already have folding, shaped cards!
Another idea is a window card; see how Frankie looks like he is peeking out a window?  This effect is very simple to do.  You can take any open shape, and raise it with pop dots, which give a window-feel to the design.

So, what else can you do with this cartridge?  How about making a few little candy wrappers!  For these I cut them out using the card feature, but made them very small.  The little pumpkin is cut at 1.5 inches and the little candy piece is cut at 2 inches.  I just added a little twine and a few embellishments with some sparkle markers.

Another fun thing you can do is make one of the 3D items on this cartridge.  I chose to make a little batty bag.  I cut this out at 6 inches, the widest it would fit on a 12x12 sheet of paper.  The secret to making 3D items is to do all of your embellishing, (or at least most) before you assemble it.  For this one I used mostly Bazzill papers, and my Tiny Bubbles Cuttlebug embossing folder for the mouth, wings, and ear layer 1 parts.  I then used some Clear Rock Candy Stickles and colored in a few of the bubbles in the mouth.  I had this orange patterned scrap (don't you love using up those scraps!) and cut the layer 2 parts out of it.   I outlined the eyes and mouth with a black sparkly marker by atyou Spica.  I just got this cute little stamp from the JoAnn's  I colored the eyes in with a white gel pen on the stamp, and used other atyou Spica sparkle pens I had to color in a couple of the words.
I assembled things with a new (to me) glue pen I found called the Zig 2 way glue pen.  I bought it at JoAnn's.  It is neat in the fact that while the very thin liquid is fresh from the pen and blue, it is ready to permanently stick.  But, if you let the glue dry and the blue disappear (before you adhere the pieces together) they are supposed to be re-positionable.  I didn’t try the latter part, maybe on the next project :)

So, after I got most of what I thought I would like for the embellishments, I assembled the little bag.

And that is just a little of what you can do with the Mini Monsters Cricut Cartridge!

Samuel Goes to School Layout

Good morning everyone,
So sorry I haven't posted in a couple of days. I have been...ONCE AGAIN...having computer issues. I have such a love hate relationship with my laptop at the moment :-) But none the less I am grateful that I am to this point at least :-)

Today's project was a continuation of the Fantabulous Cricut Crawl-Blog Hop as well as for a guest designer spot over at another Cricutlicious lover's blog. Kassidy from InkingItUpCrazy is another one of "US". She loves her Bug and loves to share some wonderful "Bug juice" Please be sure to hop over there and give here some love!

For this project I used the following cartridges:
A Word Party-Word Builders
Create A Critter
Mini Monster
Gypsy - For the two FREE Gypsy Files: Please see below.
Here is a closeup of the dinosaur. I used my Gypsy to do some "hide Contours" to make the dino more to my personal liking :-) I used my copic markers to color his spikes and circles.
Here is a closeup of the little frog. He is from Mini Monsters. Again I used my Gypsy to do some "contour hiding" to make him a little more "Melin"...lol.
Here is a closeup of the Word Art tag I created. I have it in two style for the FREE download below. I have it wih the colors you see here and then with all black lettering. So if you want to re-create this you will have the little tag :-)
So now for the FREE stuff:
