Hot Cocoa Treat Holder With Video How To

Happy Friday crafty friends,
As we enter the last weekend before Christmas, I am sure last minute gift ideas is among the list of possible things to craft. So today’s post is right up that alley. Here is a Hot Cocoa Treat Holder I designed.
GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERA
This is the front cover of the treat holder. The SVG file set comes with the base as well as the cute little circle scalloped frame. For the patterned paper I used the DCWV Christmas & Winter 180 Value Stack. The 2014 stack. I used some pretty ribbon from May Arts and some little gems from my CTMH stash.

Here’s a closer look at the cute little hot cocoa printable I created that goes with the cut file set.

Here’s a look at the inside of the cocoa pocket holder without anything in it. It will easily hold a couple of envelopes of hot cocoa and or one envelope and some marshmallows. The cut file set includes the half scalloped frame as well.

Here’s a closer look at the inside top flap. Along with the rest of printables, this “Have A Cup Of Cheer” is included. You can easily print it out and cut it by hand or import it into your die cut machine software and use it as a print n’ cut.

Here’s a look at the pocket with a packet of hot cocoa and a packet of marshmallows.

Here’s a closer look at the to and from tag another of the three printables included with this file set.

Lastly, here’s a look at the front of the cover on a bit of an angle. To learn how to put the packet together, be sure to head over to You Tube and watch my Video.

Well, that about covers it for today. Have to go prepare for some more Hanukkah fun with the family tonight. Don't forget about the great deals CTMH is having and be sure to ask your Secret Santa for Some Cash For Stamp Stash. Until the next time,

Pazzles Embossed Bells Card

Hello crafty friends,
It's my turn to share on the Pazzles Craft Room Blog. Today I have a card I created using the Pazzles Embossing tool! I had some thin metal in my stash and was waiting for the right opportunity to use it. Here is what I came up with.
clip_image001
This is a view of my completed card.

victorian frame embossing-450lt
I started by using the embossing tool to emboss the beautiful Victorian frame file from the craft room library onto some white cardstock. I lightly inked the edges of the cardstock with some Cotton Candy Ink. I wanted the embossing to really show up. The arrow in this picture points to the embossed design.

Next, I trimmed up my mats and patterned paper. The pretty patterned paper is from the DCWV Floral Faire Stack. This paper is a lighter weight paper and layered nicely onto corresponding cardstock mats. Because of the light weight of the paper, I was able to machine stitch the paper and cardstock mat  beneath together.  I inked the edges with some Saddle Ink to give them a shabby, vintage look.
Then it was on to using the embossing tool on the metal.

clip_image002
I used the Xmas bell file and the Fleur-Flourish file to create the bell. I welded the fleur-flourish file together three times and then trimmed the edges of the file accordingly so that it would fit into the bell file. I then created an outline of the bell file and made the edges scalloped. The Software makes this a snap! Once I did all that, I was ready to emboss! After I embossed the decorations on the bell, I switched out the embossing tool and cut them out. I wanted the decorative swirls to really show up so I used my Copic Marker R27 to color along the swirls. As it is an alcohol based ink, it dried up quickly and gives it a “washed” finish. I completed the bells by inking the edges of the scalloped backgrounds and adding a little gem to the bottom of each bell. I layered it all together and finished it off with a bow, gem and some beautiful photo corners using the fancy corners file.

This card would make a perfect holiday card, but it could also double as a wedding card. My son has a couple of friends who will be getting married this summer, so I will be sending him on with this card and make another for the other couple.
Okay, this is going to sound kind of like an infomercial, but I really wanted to share how amazing it is to have a machine that can do a lot more than just cut paper. Comparing it to some of the other cutters out there would be a mistake as it can do so much more than just cut paper. In many respects, it is like comparing an orange and a grapefruit. Both in the citrus family, but yet very different. It is so much fun to explore all the wonderful things our cutters can do. If you don’t have this tool in your crafty arsenal, then it is time to treat yourself! Imagine all the lovely things you can “emboss”!

25days2013-day2-350
Hello crafty friends,
Thank you so much for stopping by. Today I am sharing a card I created with a traditional holiday look. So let’s get started. Here is my finished card.

dcwv christmas stack dbl scallop card-480
I created the base of the card by welding the double scallop frame  from the Deco Emblem Set B Cut File Set. I used some festive Die Cuts With A View, DCWV Christmas and Winter Value Stack. I cut the green foliage from some green patterned paper from the Die Cuts With A View Cherry Limeade Stack. I machine stitched the various mats and then created the Word Art sentiment.

Here is a closer view of the pretty poinsettia flower and the foliage. The emblem underneath the foliage is from the Deco Emblem Set A.

Day 1 of 25 Days of Christmas 2013

25days2013-day1-350
Hello crafty friends,
Welcome to Day 1 of my 25 Days of Christmas and Year ‘Round Crafting. This is the fourth year I have done this event. Each year has been different and this year is no exception. Last year I had over 30 designers help me showcase some wonderful and amazing projects. As with everything in life, there are changes, challenges and growth. This year has been quite a challenging year for me. Both “personally and professionally”. As a result, I did not have the time or “strength” to undertake the task of coordinating a massive event like last year….so….this year….it’s just me. So here is what I can commit to you my fellow crafters.  I will TRY my best to get a post up each and every day. “TRY” being the operative word.  I will post sometime around 12:30pm-1pm eastern time each day. I know that “seems” kind of late, but…there is a reason for this….which leads me to:

I will do my best to offer you something “free” each day. I can make no promises that this will ABSOLUTELY happen, but I will sincerely try. Last year, I received a lot of emails about “WHY” the freebies are only 24 hours. I also received complaints that changing them out when the posts went live in the morning wouldn’t give those who visit during work hours in other parts of the country and or world a chance to grab them before they were gone. So the posting later helps to maybe give everyone a chance to get them. As to the “why”…quite simply, I need to keep things organized and have a system to give you my readers an opportunity to look forward to something new.

Each day will be something different. As a crafter I try to use all my tools. So I may showcase a project using SVG cut files, Digital Stamps, Traditional Dies and or My Cricut. So you will have to just make the trip over here each day to see what I have. Because this event is low key this year…I did NOT secure sponsors to give away a bunch of great prizes. I will be giving away a few things along the way, so you will need to be a “Follower” of my blog and you will need to leave a comment. I will pick a random comment for some of the prizes and will check to make sure you are a follower. Asking you to follow me and leave a comment to win something really is small to ask….I think.

So now that I have given you a sense of how this event will work….let’s get to today’s project Smile
dcwv christmas card svg goodness light 450
Here is my card. Simple and not too flashy. I started with some great DCWV Die Cuts With A View Christmas and Winter Value Stack Paper. I used Kraft as my base and then cut some mats in plain black. I used today’s free cut file and some cut files from the Deco Emblems CF set from PaperCraftingWorld.com. I machine stitched on two of the layers of mats for just a little extra touch.

poinsettia svg flower cu-450
Here is a closer look at the pretty poinsettia. I cut it out and then inked the edges with some Cranberry Ink. I then used some Burgundy stickles to add some touches of glitter here and there. For the center of the flower and around the points of some of the elements, I used some Champagne Stickles. I really like the look of the Champagne over just regular gold. It has a few extra flakes of iridescent which makes it so much prettier…to me anyway Smile

flower side view
Here is one last side view. I used some foam tape to give the poinsettia a little lift as well as the sentiment.
