Challenge #62: Candles, Wreaths, Pine Cones

Happy Wednesday and welcome to challenge day at Cooking With Cricut.  In  honor of the First Sunday in Advent (November 27), Melin challenged the Design Team to use candles, wreaths and/or pine cones in our projects this week.  All three of these things are found in an Advent Wreath!

The Advent wreath is a circular garland of evergreen branches representing eternity. On that wreath, five candles are typically arranged. During the season of Advent one candle on the wreath is lit each Sunday as a part of the Advent services. Each candle represents an aspect of the spiritual preparation for the coming of the Lord, Jesus Christ. Set on the branches of the wreath are four candles: three purple candles and one pink candle. In the center of the wreath sits a white candle. As a whole, these candles represent the coming of the light of Christ into the world.  On Christmas Eve the white center candle is traditionally lit. This candle is called the "Christ Candle" and represents the life of Christ that has come into the world.

Celebrating with an Advent wreath during the weeks prior to Christmas is a great way for Christian families to keep Christ at the center of Christmas, and for parents to teach their children the true meaning of Christmas.

Cartridge Showcase: Elegant Edges

Happy Monday and welcome to Cooking With Cricut's Cartridge Showcase!

Today Chef Adrian is featuring the Elegant Edges cartridge.  This cartridge will add a graceful style to your creative projects. It features beautifully detailed accents, frames, and borders that will help make your scrapbook layouts, home decor, and other projects even lovelier.

So without further ado . . . here's Adrian!

Today, I am sharing with you projects from one of my favorite cartridges: Elegant Edges! I love this cartridge because it is so versatile. The features make your ideas limitless, just use your imagination!

For my most recent project, I used the oblong feature. I was going to use my Spellbinder ,but I had to do them one at a time. Because I needed so many cutouts, I decided to use Elegant Edges. I was able to get the same effect but easier to make. I used the scallop shape for these beautiful table number settings.

I also used the “postage stamp” oblong feature for the backgrounds on this card.

The “Oblong Frame” feature adds a great touch to any card. This frame makes the card look like it has depth, dimension and breaks up the paper.

My most favorite, favorite feature is the “Shadow”. This feature allows me to make great shape cards. There are so many great shapes and the “shaped” card making potential is endless!! I still have some great ideas I want to try, so be on the lookout!

I love to use Elegant Edges for border feature, which acts just like a border punch. You get so many varieties and selections without having to purchase a different punch for each project. The scallop border punch in this card was created with Elegant Edges. This is a great feature!

So take the plunge and discover all that Elegant Edges has to offer!

Great projects, Adrian! Thanks so much for sharing them with us in today's cartridge showcase. Please make sure you click over and leave Adrian some "love" at her blog!

Cartridge Showcase is going on break until after Christmas.  Please make sure you stop by daily beginning December 1st for our  2nd Annual 25 Days of Christmas Crafting Showcase for tons of great projects and freebies, too!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! We appreciate it so very much!
