Guest Designer Tuesday!

We were hunting for a special way to say thank you to the wonderful ladies that link up their projects to Cooking With Cricut on a more-than-regular basis. Some of them link up every single week! WOW!  We decided that it would be fun to feature  them and their wonderful creativity  in a special Guest Designer Showcase once a week.    And we couldn't leave the CWC Design Team out of the mix -- we wanted the DT to be able to show off their favorite projects and cartridges, too!

So we're kicking off a two new features here at Cooking With Cricut!  Mondays will feature a member of the CWC Design Team (click here to see Madison's super cute project yesterday) and on Tuesdays a special Guest Designer will showcase one of their favorite cartridges.

Without further ado . . . our first Guest Designer is -- Lisa from A Mermaid's Crafts blog.

I am so honored and excited to be a guest designer today for Cooking With Cricut, one of my very favorite blogs!  I have been blogging for a little over four months and in that short period of time, I have become completely addicted.   I'm not sure what I did before I discovered this wonderful world of amazing crafters.  I am inspired daily by all of the beautiful projects and talent that is shared.  I’ve been crafting seriously for over eight years.  I used to watch all the crafting shows that HGTV and DIY aired: Crafters Coast to Coast, Scrapbooking … I bought my first Cricut two years ago - a Create - and fell in love.  This past Christmas, I received the Expression and Gypsy as a gift and I have not been able to stop crafting since.  I love making cards and the occasional layout and home decor project.

For my card today, I wanted to highlight the super-fun Nifty Fifties cartridge. It has so many great cuts and phrases. The inspiration for my project is my Mom and Dad. Parents Day is Sunday, July 24th so I made this card for them. They have always loved to dance - square dancing, disco, you name it. My mom had a poodle skirt hanging in plastic in the closet when I was young and I remember always wanting to take it out and play with it.

For this step card, I used paper from My Mind's Eye Love Notes.  I cut the dancing guy and girl at 4 1/2" and attached them with wobbles I made myself, so it looks like they are dancing when you give them a tap. I embossed the girl's skirt with the Swiss dots folder and cut a poodle at 1/2" and attached it.  Her shoes were white, so I used a black marker to turn them into saddle shoes. I used the Distress Lines embossing folder for the guy's pants. I cut the jukebox at 4 1/2 inches and attached the music notes with 12 gauge wire.  The record and rock-n-roll were also cut from the same cart and I added crystals with my iRock for some bling.

Thank you so much for stopping by today and I hope you will come back tomorrow for another fun Cooking With Cricut challenge!
