Road Trip Layout

Good morning everyone!
Here is my project for this week's FCCB Challenge. Our challenge was to create a project with a "Road Trip" theme. Here is a view of my entire layout.
Here is a closeup of the title I created.
The letters ROAD and TRIP are from Hello Kitty Cartridge
The Arrow and Hwy sign are from Summer Vacation Cartridge
The Caution Cone was from the CARS Cartridge.
I created the arrow-road and the Rest Area Word Art Sign.

Here is the cutie patootie bears. I created them, the steering wheel and the coffee cup :-) These are files that can be cut with your Cricut in conjunction with SCAL or MTC software. If you need to know more about this, I have a FAQ's page HERE

Here is a closeup of the car and the gas pump. They both came from the Summer Vacation Cartridge.

NOW, HERE is MY Version of this fun layout!
Here is a closeup of the road trip border. I designed all the files to create this version of the border.
Of course here is the same set of cutie patootie bears.

50 States Pink Rose Tutorial

50 States Pink Rose Tutorial
This is the "North Dakota" flower on page 46. I cut this flower in 4 layers in 3 different sizes. I cut "slits" so the petals would be a little more loose. To me this one looks like a rose.

Here is a close up shot of one of the flowers.

I started with a plain white flower.

I glimmer misted the petals with Pink Bubblegum Glimmer Mist on both sides.

I cut slits on the petals to loosen them up. You can see the flower on the left in the photo above has the slits and the one on the right does not.

When the paper is still slightly damp from the glimmer mist, begin to push up the petals and curl them into each other.

They (the petals) should easily bend from being moist so they don't get creases in them

Roll them together and hold it for a few seconds until it takes that shape.

this picture (above) shows you how well it can keep it's shape with no adhesive

Finally, begin to glue them together by putting one into the center of the next. With the last one being a bit more open...like the photo above.

Open up the center petals gently, then you can curl them individually a little more to give them a more realistic shape. Because you used glimmer mist, the pigment when dry will really help the flower to retain it's shape and even be a little "stiff". I don't know the chemistry involved, but it seems to work :)

To see the rest of the flowers I created with the 50 States Cartridge,

Hello Everyone!

Hope you're all having a wonderful week! What a week for me...my baby offically started high school!!! Man, time sure does fly!
Here is my project for this week's FCCB challenge. The challenge is "Tropical - Hot". I don't know about you, but where I live....it is HOT! So this fits nicely into the Central Florida weather during August.

So here is a view of the entire layout.
Here is a closeup of the Parrot. I designed him. He can be cut on your Cricut if you have SCAL or MTC.
Here is a closeup of the floral spray. I designed the leaves, bamboo and hibiscus. In fact the hibiscus flower was a giveaway file I did a few weeks back. So here's an idea on using it :-)
Here is a closeup of the Bird of Paradise I designed. Those flowers are just so unique in real life. Coming from a Northern state and moving south, I remember being so intrigued by all these different tropical flowers I had never seen before.
I will try and finish the "CRICUT VERSION" that I started soon!

Well that's it for today! I hope you will hop over to FCCB and check out what the Design team did this week! Some fabulously HOT projects! Be sure to enter yours too! As always, there are some fabulous prizes to give away!

Happy Fall Y'All Layout

Good morning all,

I wanted to share a layout I did with a fall theme. It seems a bit early to be thinking about fall already. But that may be because of where I live. It is still so hot here in sunny Florida.

Here is a view of the entire layout.

Here is a closeup of the little scarecrow. He was a file I created.
The wheat was from the "My World" cartridge.
The apples were from Plantin School Book
The little tags were from Plantin School Book also. I just cut "slits" in the tags to make them look more rustic.

The harvest bucket was a sizzix die as was the pumpkin. The little sunflowers were Prima flowers. I purposely used those because I wanted a little texture.

The letters for the title were cut from Learning Curve and the wood frame for the mats were just pieces I hand cut.

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a wonderful Day!

NOW, onto my Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog Creation for this week.
Our assignment for this week was: The GREAT OUTDOORS!
So here's my take on this challenge. I created the little Smore Guy from Camping Out. The letters were from Simply Sweet.

Here is a close up of the cute little "Cricut Version" Smore Guy!

Now here is my version. I used the Simply Sweet Cartridge for the lettering and created the Smore Guy in this one. I had done him originally and then decided to try and find cuts on my carts that were close enough to create a "Cricut" version.
Here's a closeup of my original version. This one can be cut from the Cricut with SCAL or MTC software and no cartridge.
Well that's it for today. Be sure to drop by the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog and enter your Great Outdoors Project! There is a nice prize up for grabs!

Thank you for stopping by :-) I will be back soon with more fun stuff! Please stay tuned!

Memories To Preserve Layout using Preserves Cartridge

Hello Everyone,
Here is another quick post today!
This is a layout using the Preserves Cartridge. I also used the MS Deep Edge Punch and an EK Success Slim Line Border Punch.
The word Preserve comes from the Cartridge as well. I just cut off the "s" as it was plural in the cut out :-)
Here is a closeup of the pear and raspberries. I inked them with different chalk inks and then I used Fired Brick Distress Stickles on the Raspberries. It gave them some nice dimension and sparkle without being too "glitzy".
Here is a close up of the Raspberrry cluster. I used the VersaMarker Watermark pen to give the leaves their lines.
Here is a view of the other Pear and Raspberries.
Hope you are inspired to "Preserve" Your memories!

Hello everyone,

THE CUTTING CAFE' is sponsoring a GIVEaway!

The Design Team Members are each allowed to showcase a project and giveaway a set or two of files from the Cutting Cafe's amazing library of printable stamps and cutting files...WHOO HOO!

That's it! Super easy! EVERYONE can join in on the FUN! Giveaway entries will be good until Saturday at 5pm EST.
So Here is my first of a couple of projects this week using the Cutting Cafe's great files!

This is a view of the entire layout. I used their Tulip border and daisy border cutting files. I also used their "If Friends Were Flowers Sentiment" From their Beautiful Blooms Set.
Here is an angled view. I wanted to show that I raised the frame with double foam tape. This added extra dimension to the project. I also cut the tulip border in the same colored paper as the background. It is very subtle but in person it is so pretty. This technique is called "Faux Embossing".
I added this cute butterfly. It is the butterfly from the Indie Art Cricut Cartridge. I "drew" it with my Cri-Kits.com pens and then cut it with my Cricut. I wanted to show you that this can be done with your Cricut and cartridges as well. I did use the Gypsy to get my cut line very close to the draw line. I am attaching the Gypsy file below for those that have the Gypsy and the Indie Art Cartridge.
Please be sure to hop over to the Cutting Cafe' site and check out all the other participants and enter their giveaways too! How fun...Lot's of chances to win :-)

Okay speaking of winning....
Here is Random.org's winning pick from among the comments last week.
So the winner.....of her choice of pen set and pen holders is......

Rockin Robin Caldwell....She Said
"Waht a sweet little card!!! I sooo want these pens. The butterflies are so wonderful. I will have to try to figure out a "mod" in the meantime to use the mini markers that I have, with my current blade holder. Wish me luck!! Hugs, Rockin Robin C".
